The TVC is ridiculous. They took a blue Ertiga and CGI'd the front end, bumpers and wheels.

It really looks like an Ertiga Rear-ended an Innova at high speed and fused perfectly.

The Glanza and Urban Cruiser were looking like a Maruti with an Version-upgrade. The Rumion looks a perfect integration.

Seems like it is priced half a lakh premium to the Ertiga. What is the premium?

Still can not believe that they just copy pasted Innova Crysta's grille here.

Another ugly vehicle on our roads. The Ertiga is quite passable, but Toyota India has this penchant for releasing some really odd looking vehicles. The Etios being a prime example as was the Yaris

Any other specs that can be shared? The engines, torque and bhp? Also, has this been GNCAP tested?

Everything will be 100% identical to the Ertiga. The same K15C engine, 6 speed TC, S-CNG option and the heartech platform. No change to the mechanical bits whatsoever.

Badge engineering on TVC's also?

Also, I am sad to see there is a TVC where a kid is sitting in front and kids in the second row are not belted.

I never expected Toyota to become this lazy, inattentive and casual about safety.

Re: Toyota Rumion launched in India at Rs. 10.29 lakh

Frankly, don't know why there is suddenly so much angst against the Toyota Rumion. Leave aside the badge-sharing and the fact that it is a Ertiga under the skin. I think it looks pretty nice and I have a feeling it will sell very well for Toyota.

Only wish Toyota had given us the South African black interiors instead of the Maruti 'Beige Sea' and a couple more airbags for the rear passengers. However, that beige can still be corrected by fitting high quality black/dual tone seat covers, with the the appropriate slits/detachable seams on the front seat sides for the airbags.

For anyone looking for a medium-sized 3-row MUV for mainly city and occasional highway use + an usable boot, the Ertiga/Rumion twins really suit that segment. The XL6 is also a good option, but a bit more pricey I think and a 6 seater only.

In my humble opinion, the appropriate variants of the Crysta, Hycross and Invicto are now at truly premium pricing and unaffordable for most middle class families who are looking for a chauffeured second or third car.

I don't understand why is Toyota just doing re-badges and not adding their own technology to these cars.

A mid size MPV is a very good candidate for hybrid powertrain. I travelled in so many of these MPVs in my Bali vacation. The hybrid powertrain will get its running cost equivalent to CNG and offer automatic transmission and more boot space.

They want to save black interiors for their upcoming TXL6 (or whatever Toyota designers name that).

Re: Toyota Rumion launched in India at Rs. 10.29 lakh

I was talking to a friend of mine recently. They're planning to buy a second car, and were considering either the Baleno or the Glanza. I was surprised when they told me that they felt the Glanza performed better than the Baleno.

Ofcourse, it makes no sense whatsoever, and it is pure placebo - as both cars are same underneath. But, perceptions do matter.

The rebadged cars from Maruti are crucial for keeping the Toyota showrooms afloat. Every variation they add (eg: six airbags) is going to add to the cost. So, why fix something that isn't broken?

The mass market buys the rebadged versions, Toyota is more than happy with the numbers they make, Maruti is happy, and the dealers are also happy. It's a win-win-win-win.

Now, shall we move on to some other topic than blasting the rebadged models?
