When I renewed my RC@15 year completion in 2021, RTO has entered the manufacturer as "other" and not "Honda" as I had on my original RC. I verified this on my RC card and even in Vahan portal.
So, in the HSRP portal, when I am selecting Honda as the OEM manufacturer, it is failing to Validate!
I don't know if I can manually apply for HSRP at a Honda dealership? or I am stuck forever.
Any suggestions?
I had a similar problem for my Hyundai Santro that is almost 20 years old. When I renewed the RC the MFG was recorded as "OTHER" instead of "Hyundai". To correct this I submitted a requisition letter to correct the mistake to the RTO. They signed the letter and asked me to take a photo as acknowledgement. They said it would take 10 days for the change to reflect.
Around 9 days later when I tried to apply for HSRP again, it worked. Just got my HSRP fitted.

The way they detected the issue is by comparing the invoice value with the IDV in the first insurance policy - the latter was considerably higher. We think this happened because he did not take the dealer-provided insurance, instead opted for a firm of his own choice - and they used the ex-showroom price of a higher variant of the same car while calculating the premium.
Thanks, Binand. Very helpful answer.

If this is the case, I am at a loss to understand how I landed up here. I am the second owner of the car. So, I don't even have a role in the insurance at the time of registering the car. Still, now I will end up paying for the difference in tax, is it? (assuming tax differential is the problem in this case)

Btw - are there any other possibilities (other than historical tax differential) why a car could be denoted as Vahan blacklisted? (given the fact that there are no challans being shown against it in Parivahan portal)

Also, for further troubleshooting this, will I have to go to the same RTO (KA 01) where the car was registered, or, do they entertain such queries in other RTOs too? (KR Puram RTO would be relatively near for me). Any means to contact the RTO folks over phone instead of physically going?

Further update to my case : I had sent email to helpdesk-vahan@gov.in detailing my issue. They recommended me to go to the RTO, however they were able to resolve the issue by communicating with the RTO themselves. I was able to place the HSRP order. this is first time i got a quick resolution via for a RTO related issue.

Sorry, checked the thread after long. No I have been lazy a bit regarding this for sometime now. I might visit RTO in Nov for this activity, will drop an online mail to the vahan and see what comes up, but mostly it is due to not filling all the fields by the RTO staff which is leading to this. And I couldn't find the vehicle details edit page where I can submit an online application to the RTO for manufacturer update. I guess we have to visit the RTO and ask for this update. I will write an application hardcopy beforehand and then go to RTO.

So, I have the problem with our Honda City where the Makers Name is "Others"

Emailed Vahan and they responded with -

Dear Sir,

We do not update or modify or correction any record and also not authorized to do so.

In case of any discrepancy, the user may contact the concerned state Transport department for rectification.

Can you share a draft of this letter, please? And which RTO was this? I have to do the same thing for our Honda City I suppose.

Follow the below steps :
1. Find your RTO at this link https://transport.karnataka.gov.in/p...rt+officers/en
The letter must be addressed to your respective RTO.

2. Use the template I created given below. Fill in your details wherever BOLD font is used
Attn: YOUR RTO NAME AND ADDRESS

Sub : Rectification of Car Manufacturer’s name in Registration Certificate for Vehicle No. XX-XX-XX-XXXX

The car manufacturer’s name is mentioned as “OTHERS” due to which I am unable to apply for HSRP (High Security Registration Plate). This needs to be rectified as “XXXXXXX”. Please ensure that this is rectified at the earliest.

INSERT PICTURE OF RC CARD WITH ALL DETAILS VISIBLE

Regards,
YOUR NAME
YOUR SIGNATURE (BLUE INK)
MOBILE NUMBER
3. Go to your RTO and submit this at the specific counter. In my case it was counter 15. You have to find out in your RTO. They will write the file number on the letter and ask you to submit it to the next counter. Here they will sign the letter and allow you to take a picture as acknowledgement. They will tell you that the process will take 10-15 days. You do NOT need to submit the original RC card or pay any bribes.

4. No changes will appear directly on your RC card or the vahan portal. Check on the HSRP manufacturer's website after a few days if you are able to apply. Keep checking. Once the change happens in the back-end you will be able to apply.

re: HSRP mandatory in Karnataka | EDIT: Deadline extended to 17th May 2024

Hello, I own a 1984 model Ind-Suzuki Motorcycle. The manufacturer listed in the RC Book originally was Ind-Suzuki Motorcyles.
On Re-registration, the RTO at Bangalore (East) wrongly entered Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Ltd.
Now I am unable to apply for HSRP plates as I am unable to change the name of the manufacturer to TVS Motors (Ind-Suzuki later became TVS Suzuki and now, TVS Motors). The RTO officials are asking for proof of change of manufacturer's name.

Yes, Recently got our Cars the new HSRP number plates from maruti dealer.
We have to be in person to get it fixed.

The issue I am facing is for my old 2005 Honda unicorn with valid FC and RC certificate , It shows error saying vehicle is not authorised by OEM....

I have asked both in RTO office and Honda OEM showroom where they fix HSRP. Both are not aware of what exactly the issue is.

I am guessing they are not letting vehicle s older than 15 years to get HSRP

The 15 year thing you mentioned is not the issue. It looks something else. Go to the dealership and ask them to call the supplier's contact person. He may have an idea. Also try what @automata has mentioned in his post above.

Contact the RTO directly over phone. They usually reply on Whatsapp. The numbers of all RTOs in Karnataka are provided in the link I posted.

Maybe get a letter from the dealer as proof of change of manufacturer's name.

The 15 year issue is not the case. I got my 17 year old car's HSPR done without any hassle. Please try again.

This is the dumbest question to ask especially by the RTO folks. I have the same issue with my 1994 RX100 where the manufacturer is "Escorts Manufacturing Let". However Escorts were out of the JV with Yamaha longtime back. Where do I get this proof from now? I am also in the same dilemma and had raised the question to the siam.com folks from whom I was getting the plates booked. They have asked for the RC copy. Waiting for them to respond.
