Yes, this is the issue. I am guessing that the HSRP vendors are checking the "Maker" field of RC particulars and map to the OEMs to validate the request. In my case, it is mentioned as "OTHERS", which obviously will fail this check. Now, I think the only option is to visit RTO and rectify this.

I know that in the recent past, RTO has given HSRP for such cars.
I got my out-of-station car re-registered in 2022 and did not get HSRP with the new KA number. When I asked them about it, they said since you do not have HSRP for your current number, you cannot get HSRP right now and will have to wait till old cards are allowed to have HSRP.

I have no idea if that was the case and he was being truthful or just making that rule up (as in if I had HSRP for my non-KA number, I would have got HSRP).

re: HSRP mandatory in Karnataka | EDIT: Deadline extended to 17th May 2024

Hello All,

After a lot of thought, finally happened to order HSRP for my first vehicle in line (out of 4 vehicles I own). This is for my 2011 Toyota Fortuner. Have ordered this from FTA HSRP solutions, tried Rosemarta, but was returning an error and hence went through the aforementioned manufacturer. However, was going through the thread and happened to see a few mentions of quality issues. Was going through the order and terms on the Invoice and happened to come across a warranty for 5 years and thought this might help.

Shall update my experience of HSRP installation once I receive the same.

Attachment of terms below

I am in a similar situation with my Gypsy. It could true, but in 2023 they have been issuing HSRP plates for cars being re-registered into KA.

It is definitely a scam for the plate manufacturers. Flimsy quality plates will cause us to spend again and again for replacement plates. I've feeing the front plates on my Corolla Altis will require replacement very soon as the bumper does not have enough area for whole plate.

However the standardized number plate will help the ANPR cameras to recognize the registration number. The AI in the solution is able to identify multiple violations in the single picture. Online challan with photo is difficult to contest in court. Without the HSRP plates, the quality of recognition by ANPR cameras goes down.

Does anyone know how HSRP will help in recovering stolen vehicles?

On the contrary everyone would know how HSRP will help you avoid coughing up a few hundred rupees every time you venture out after November 17th

If yes, please share a review/ recommendation.

I'm looking for one for our Ritz, because the front number plate tends to get bent very often. Looking to have it installed along with the HSRP.

Thanks in advance!
Most of the frames that we come across are more or less of the same quality. When I went to get HSRP done for my dad's Maruti Versa, the salesperson asked me if I needed one. Since I already had one, I didn't buy it.

This is the one I have - https://amzn.eu/d/eulvPfL

I think you can ask them for the same frame, they will sell it to you for more or less the same price(I'm guessing). It helps a lot, especially since the new plates that they are supplying are quite flimsy and get bent more easily than the metal ones that old cars came with.

I have them on my bike and one major issues with them is rattling noise if you forget to provide rubber support between cover and screws below. They also aren't that sturdy or long lasting.

re: HSRP mandatory in Karnataka | EDIT: Deadline extended to 17th May 2024

Got HSRP installed yesterday on my 2 two-wheelers: one 2010 Honda Activa and 2014 Honda Dream Neo.

Got the HSRP installed in the Activa at VFM Honda, near Tin Factory/Pai Layout, Old Madras Road. More professional work done here. They also took photos of the vehicle through an app in an ipad after installing the new number plates.

Later in the day, got HSRP installed at Haiku Honda, Old Airport Road, near Domlur Post Office. Underwhelming experience. Despite insisting on taking photos, they didn't bother to. Only asked me to fill vehicle details and my phone number in a shabbily kept notebook.

Sharing here for the benefit of people who have Honda 2-wheelers in Eastern part of the city. VFM Honda is definitely a better choice .

PS: I intentionally booked slot in 2 different Honda showrooms to experience difference in approach, if any. Clearly, there is no single approach mandated by authorities.
Now, my car (Tata Zest) remains without HSRP. I could only get an appointment on 4th November despite booking a week ago (at KHT Motors, Kundalahalli/Brookfield).

I don't think they can enforce this for out of state vehicles. Mine is an MH registered car being used in Bengaluru. I don't see any option on SIAM site for MH yet. It's a different story if the cop stopping you doesn't care whether HSRP is available or not for a particular state and just interested in revenue generation for himself or state in that order of preference

For now, if your home state does not have a facility of HSRP for older cars, better get one of those look alike HSRPs temporarily which will minimize your chances of being stopped.

There was a recent notification by Ministry of Transport clearly instructing all States / Police departments of the all States that if the vehicle is registered in a State which is yet to adopt HSRP, then the same can not be penalized even if being used in another state where HSRP is mandatory. This was in the papers some time back. Let me try and get a link to it later today for the benefit of all here.

re: HSRP mandatory in Karnataka | EDIT: Deadline extended to 17th May 2024

Now that everyone is getting the new HSRP Plates installed I had the next logical question. What is the safe and recommended way to dispose the older plates? Given that it has the Registration Number we cannot just dump into dry waste I suppose.

Hammer it flat, then get it cut into two at some metal working shop, and dispose each half in separate places. This is one option.
