Maruti Suzuki outlines its 3.0 strategy to maintain pole position

Maruti Suzuki outlines its 3.0 strategy to sustain its pole position.

- Maruti Suzuki, on its part, will be looking at almost doubling the capacity to 4 million units in the next eight years.

- The company will grow faster than the market and the exports from India are also likely to triple in the next eight years to over 7.5 to 8 lakh units.

- Small cars to grow by merely 2%

- Maruti Suzuki has made a course correction by adding a string of new SUVs in the last few years in the price bracket of Rs 8 lakh to Rs 25 lakh and is now vying for leadership position in the SUV segment.

- Work is progressing at the first site in Kharkhoda, Haryana, and it is expected that the first plant of 250,000 capacity will start production in the first half of 2025.

- One similar plant will be added each year to reach a capacity of one million.

- In the process of selecting a second site for adding another one million capacity by FY 2030-31

- Magic mantra for growth is to maximise earnings and to reinvest in growth.

- Planning to increase our capacity by 2 million cars a year by FY 2030-31. The required investments will all come from internal resources.

Maruti have made a strategic course correction and they are now increasing their SUV market share. By 2025, they will enter into EV. This will prove to be a tectonic shift in EV ecosystem considering the scale of Maruti and how they would democratize their EV aggressively. Stock is consolidating and on verge of major breakout from 2017 levels.

By 2030-31 we expect to have 6 EV models. These models are expected to comprise 15-20% of our total sales by that time. As I have said elsewhere, the conditions in India require that the attainment of carbon neutrality in the transportation sector should be achieved by a mix of technologies that are appropriate to our resource endowment and economic conditions.

From the silhouette, looks like an electric Jimny is on the cards. Would be interesting.

More like Suzuki Hustler EV

EV Jimny i.e EV 4WD, falls into a such a niche market I don't think Maruti will launch that here

So, no replacement for the Ciaz? Seems likely that they'll just let that sedan die peacefully.

Will be much more Happy to see when Maruti Suzuki giving more importance to safe cars ( +4 GNCAP rating ) in there vision 3.0 along with other improvements and introduction of new powertrains. And if they are considering to introduce plug in Hybrid vehicles to our homeland will be excellent for us.

The first one looks like a JDM WagonR. Hope to justify the expected high price of the BEV, they will bring in the JDM spec WagonR instead of the current sorry decontented Indian WagonR. The second one looks like a Suzuki Hustler and the third one looks like the Grand Vitara based on the lights alone.

One of the three in the second row will be the eVX. Not sure what the rest two are.

Row 1: WagonR, Jimny, Grand Vitara
Row 2: Swift, Baleno, Fronx

Just my guess. No new cars. Just EV iterations of existing ICE versions.

Suzuki is building all of its EVs as born EVs with dedicated platform rather than retrofitments. Existing ICE versions would exist on different platforms. The body shapes are shown to reflect the segments they would be targeting. They clarified this during Japanese market presentations.

Re: Maruti Suzuki outlines its 3.0 strategy to maintain pole position

I am very interested in knowing how much of a contribution does Suzuki India have to Suzuki Japans coffers, or share as a whole to Suzuki worldwide, if anyone has such information please.
Given Suzuki doesn't seem to have anywhere near as a brand following in the world as it does in India, when compared to their Japanese counterparts Honda and Toyota.

Suzuki is not very small (in sales) as you have outlined. They are doing well in 2023 also.
