Jeep Compass, Meridian prices hiked by up to Rs 3.14 lakh!

Jeep India has increased the prices of the Compass and Meridian SUVs by up to Rs 43,000 and Rs 3.14 lakh, respectively. The Compass now starts at Rs 21.73 lakh, while the base price of Meridian is Rs 33.40 lakh (ex-showroom).

The prices of the Compass Sport MT, Limited (O) MT and S (O) MT have been increased by Rs 29,333, Rs 35,000 and Rs 38,000, respectively. The Limited (O) 4x4 AT variant costs Rs 40,000 more, and S (O) 4x4 AT has become dearer by Rs 43,000.

Prices of the 4x2 variants of the Meridian have been increased by Rs 42,000-48,000. The Limited (O) 4x4 AT and Limited Plus AT trims now cost Rs 51,000 more, while the Upland Edition gets the highest price hike of Rs 3.14 lakh.

Jeep also made a few changes to the variant line-up recently. The Compass is no longer available with the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine, while the base 'Limited' trim of the Meridian has been discontinued.

Both the Compass and Meridian SUVs are now available with a 2.0-litre diesel engine that makes 168 BHP and 350 Nm. The engine is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic transmission. The SUVs also get 4-wheel drive as an option.

Re: The "NEW" Car Price Check Thread - Track Price Changes, Discounts, Offers & Deals

How many are they actually selling in India? I'm yet to see any OTR where I live. I think most end up taking a loan and bringing home the Fortuner or a second hand X1

Someone took a challenge at Jeep India to make this the first single digit selling car a month.

Instead of competing and gaining marketshare they decided to milk their small fan base more I guess.
They were selling so less already and in their infinite wisdom decided to increase prices and that too by 3 lacs!!

Re: The "NEW" Car Price Check Thread - Track Price Changes, Discounts, Offers & Deals

It's not like they make uber reliable products with stringent Q&C either. My 11000 km, 2019 manual compass petrol had premature clutch wear/burn recently. Only then I found out this was kind of a known issue. I have seen two or three posts of new Meridians leaving their owners stranded on the road as well. Plus HUGE lack of service centres. There are districts without a single ASC here in Kerala despite the customer base. Why would anyone get this and drive one or two hours for basic service? Rarely seen in the city roads here as well.

Guys, I think all the variants got a hike of 30-50k. Only one variant got hiked by 3 Lakhs. Sorry, but I don’t see the issue really.

This changed my mind on JEEP INDIA. I said they would be gone by 5 years , but now I believe they will be gone in 3 years.

Jeep will stay a niche player and continue to be in India until 2.0 litre Multijet is being used by Tata and MG, post that I dont see any future for Jeep India, Infact Stellantis as a whole doesnt make any product that is balanced and right for India

It isn't just a Jeep issue. It is how FCA operates across all its brands around the world. They like to pretend they're as desirable as the German and other Italian luxury car makers and charge accordingly. One has to wonder how the management is so confident of keeping their jobs with such low sales.

What’s with Jeep discontinuing petrol engines when most manufacturers are discontinuing diesel? I wonder if that’s a strategic game they are playing?!

Do the buyers of Upland Edition also get a free sticker and a lollipop?

Jeep wants to be in the race and they proved it by increasing prices and keeping them on par with segment/competition.

If they increase the prices it looks like they are killing themselves. If they don't increase the prices, it looses the premium value and looks like the vehicle belongs to a lower segment and the target customers will be those shopping in the lower segment. They are shooting themselves either way and this is what is happening with many brands.

Allow me to answer from the POV of a prospective Compass buyer. Let's see the price increase from Facelift launch in 2021 till now.

Sport Diesel MT
18.69L -> 21.73L, Diff = 3.04L

Limited Diesel MT
22.49L -> 25.99L, Diff = 3.50L

Model S Diesel MT
24.49L -> 28.22L, Diff = 3.73L

Limited Diesel 4x4 AT
26.29L -> 29.84L, Diff = 3.55L

Model S Diesel 4x4 AT
28.29L -> 32.07L, Diff = 3.78L

For a greater than 3L price hike over 2 years, one expects more feature additions to the car to justify the hike. Base variant Sport retails at 28L OTR in Bangalore but laughably misses out on 6 airbags, Auto-fold ORVMs, Fog lamps, and Parcel Tray which even hatchbacks like Baleno, i10 get nowadays. Also at the current prices of Limited and Model S, not giving ADAS is a big miss.

Jeep needs to understand that buyers will happily pay 5 Lakh premium over the equivalent Creta/Seltos models for Compass, but anything more than that is hard to justify.

In a year or two they will fold up and all the glowing tributes to their tech prowess and that fancy moniker of trail hawk will lie buried. The landscape of Indian car industry is strewn with such too clever by half strategies for years now!
