Maruti Suzuki Fronx S-CNG launched at Rs 8.42 lakh

Maruti Suzuki launched the Fronx in the Indian market in April this year. Now, the carmaker has introduced CNG variants of the crossover. The Fronx S-CNG is available in Sigma and Delta trims priced at Rs 8,41,500 and Rs 9,27,500 (ex-showroom), respectively.

The Fronx S-CNG is powered by a 1.2-litre K-Series DualJet engine. In CNG mode, the engine develops 76 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 98.5 Nm @ 4,300 rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Maruti claims a fuel efficiency of 28.51 km/kg.

In terms of design, the Fronx S-CNG features a Grand Vitara-inspired front fascia with a large grille flanked by LED daytime running lights. The front bumper houses projector headlights, while the rear features slim LED tail lights with a light bar and a silver skid plate.

The Fronx gets a dual-tone interior, equipped with features such as a SmartPlay Pro infotainment system, dual front airbags, reverse parking sensors; among others.

Trust Maruti to scrape through with minimum possible effort. They have learnt nothing from what Tata has achieved with Altroz and Punch CNG, where they have been able to integrate the tanks without killing off the boot space.

Tata had showcased the Punch CNG at Auto Expo many months ago, and clearly, Maruti has not bothered to learn from their innovation. Had they, they would have tom tommed the same at the top of their lungs.
