When it comes Grand Vitara/Hyryder- relationship status between Suzuki - Toyota is complicated unlike say Hycross/Invicto, Baleno/Glanza, which are completely owned by either Toyota or Suzuki, where one can clearly dictate supply/production.

Below is why I believe Hyryder/Grand Vitara is complicated:

1. Both are fully manufactured at Toyota plant at Bidadi but Toyota produces more Grand Vitara.
2. 1.5 NA and All grip is fully Suzuki tech where as Hybrid one's are Toyota.
3. Production is as per Toyota process but parts come from Suzuki supplier.

Higher sales is primarily because of Suzuki's reach/after sales and given the pricing, sells in decent number in towns rural area too, where Suzuki have big upper hand.

Re: June 2023 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Ioniq5 numbers

Why are Wrangler numbers not reported? Had spoken to the dealer last week and he said ~50 wranglers are sold every month and there is 1 month waiting. As expected he had no clue about the new Wrangler coming to India. I asked about 4xE and he had no clue either.

Octy Superb no more...what a sad state of affairs especially for the low slung sedan guys like me.

MSIL can sell any numbers of Brezza every month But they have to balance out the production numbers among many other models. In some months Brezza production numbers are up and something else is down. I understand that the Brezza is also having long waiting period, so market demand is not a concern.

Nexon is built in FCA pune plant (Tata JV plant) and enjoys full capacity there as FCA did not make so many cars (or variety).

Similar things we can see with Thar, XUV7oo and Scorpio N- the production capacity is limited to fulfill all pending order book.

Nexon is having equally long waiting time I guess. My colleague just got his Nexon XMA petrol delivered in June end after booking it in January. And his is when he booked it with multiple dealers in Delhi and wrote quite a few escalation emails to Tata.

I'll add another chart like this one for MoM Movement. However, adding the previous month's rank in any of the charts is not feasible. It will lead to a lot of confusion and errors.

I think you have got the wrong information. TATA's passenger car production capacity across all plants together is 45-48 thousand vehicles a month and TATA is selling at it's peak with production lines running at full capacity with 3 shifts a day. If the recently acquired Sanand plant starts production, annually another 2.40 lakh cars can be added, that translates to around 20 thousand cars a month. This will increase total production capacity to 68-70 thousands a month. The plant starts production in 2024 and will gradually scale up production.

Coming to FCA-TML JV, Fiat has it's production lines fixed and thought they are not running full, cannot be mixed with other cars as tooling sets will differ between models. Fiat also assembles CKD models like Wrangler and Cherokee here.

So it is incorrect to say that TATA has under utilised capacity.

Re: June 2023 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

In today's Seller's market scenario, nearly everybody is selling out all that they are making, particularly the top 2 or 3 makers. We cannot judge quality or demand based on the same. Nexon, Brezza both are in demand and not available off the shelf for select variants and colours.
