re: Scoop! Tata Curvv test mule spotted in India. EDIT: Curvv Petrol launched at Rs. 10.00 lakh

They launched this car like 10 times now, and still they have not launched the top end model of Petrol Automatic, my guess is that it be too close to the EV so they will silently launch some new variants. Same goes for the EV top model with the smaller battery I think. Launching these variants will cause a lot of overlap, especially in states where they have special taxation schemes narrowing down the price difference between ICE and EV.

Good pricing from TML. It will give Basalt nice competition as well.

I am sure Nexon will lose its prospective buyers to Curvv. According to me, Creature +S and Accomplished S are VFM variants to look for.

Not sure about pricing, but so much new tech on a Tata is giving me shivers when ownership and reliability are brought into pictures.

By chance anyone know when can we expect prices for all Auto models of Petrol and Diesel variants ?
Hoping Tata commits to honoring bookings made within the deadline at the introductory prices promised. The industry has repeatedly demonstrated that customers are often enticed by these introductory rates, only to be asked for higher prices at the time of delivery, which is an unjust practice.

Will customers cross shop from 3XO, Nexon, Sonet, Breeza ? interesting times ahead.
Well, Kia Sonet D-AT HTX variant starts at 13.26 ex showroom with a Torque converter gearbox. Funnily in September 2021 I got the same variant for 13.2 on road. Prices have indeed risen a bit since then. Anyways, Curvv being bigger in all aspects is a no Brainer at this price point. Although buying diesel in NCR now makes no sense and Ev and hybrid are the go to options.

Given the piling up of inventory in car industry, I expected more aggressive pricing from Tata.
1.5 Lakh premium must be accounting for just the GST difference for a sub-4m vs 4.4 m car. So essentially larger car at the same price as nexon.

Diesel always makes sense. For anyone who runs the vehicle at least 20k a year, or heavy well loaded vehicles, with the AC on, in anything other than highway smooth continuous driving, is better off with a diesel.
For instance, a scorpio N and a thar - I cannot afford to run these vehicles on petrol. I just can't.

Diesel saves me 40% on my running costs. Servicing costs pretty much the same when compared to petrol turbos. 6.5L fully synthetic. MnM engine oil costs me 2.7k at the service center. It's the same for petrol and diesel.

In fact, with govt. Policies I am selling my old Honda brio and swift cause E15 mandatory blending is outright bad news in my locality. The day the govt say E30 for all, there go your E20 cars. I'd rather a more resilient diesel mill that will barely get impacted with speculated 5% ethanol blending.

Back to the Tata curvv - the 10L segment still has an excellent automatic choice for 10L - the 3XO petrol MX3 AT. I feel it offers a more mature package with still approachable service levels over Tata. As long as one can live with the 300L boot.

Tata is leading only by small margin of 865 cars dispatched in August. Curvv deliveries start from 12th September while Roxx deliveries start after mid October.

Tata might be able to retain 3rd spot with Curvv deliveries in September and Mahindra has a high probability of taking over 3rd spot with Roxx sales starting October.

Wait I didn’t notice this earlier, but they didn’t even bother mentioning the variant wise pricing for the automatics. Now this is just too much, first they launch the car, then release its EV version first, and then when they finally do release the ICE version, they try to hide the prices, the prices are visible nowhere on their website, just a press release on the main Tata website and that stupid video on YouTube where they do the countdown thing to reveal the pricing, that too only the manual variants.

And the pricing thing is in general on Indian Car Websites, they almost never feature a clear table listing all the variants, powertrains and their pricing, you either have to use third party websites or make these tables yourself, which is so infuriating when buying such an expensive thing.

Just FYI, OTR Pune

Scoop! Tata Curvv test mule spotted in India. EDIT: Curvv Petrol launched at Rs. 10.00 lakh-screenshot_20240902204120.png

This is for the Creative AT on the Non GDi engine and the 45KWh EV. Those are the entry level powertrains for both cars.

Tata has done the HyundaiCreta mistake overhere! Creta does not come with SIVT. After the launch of Curvv, There is no Creative DCA on offer. Creative seems to be the best value for money variant which comes with all necessary bells and whistles without a sunroof.
Pure + DCA does not have rear defogger! A car without a basic safety feature like a defogger is a definite dealbreaker. Then if anyone has to buy an upper model, that person has to buy a car which comes with sunroof as a mandatory feature! Creative DCA should have been on offer!

Not every one is going to like the coupe styling. This car actually looks like a sedan. Spending 20 lakhs plus on a Tata does not make any sense. The pricing is not Creta killer!

Hyundai is ahead of the 3rd placed Tata Motors by ~5.5 K.

Well.. well… can Roxx and Curvv together attract ~6 K of Creta customers?

Hyundai is slipping down to 4th place then!! Time to pay for relying too much and far too long on only one superstar ( Creta) product.

I just have a small question. The brochure says, for the suspension, independent and semi independent for the front and back respectively. What does that mean? Please explain like i'm 5.

Currently Hyundai maintains its no.2 position largely due to wholesale figures, pushing inventory to dealers, and both the no.1 & no.2 are known for pressuring dealerships to accept excess stock, resulting in unsold inventory piling up in dealer yards.

When examining actual retail numbers/vaahan reg data, Hyundai and Tata are closely matched. Tata has committed to aligning its monthly sales with retail figures this year to alleviate dealer pressure. Mahindra on the other hand cannot make enough cars and are handicapped by production capacity or lack thereof.

With an IPO on the horizon, Hyundai cannot afford to slip to No. 3 or 4, as negative news ahead of an offering could harm its valuation. While this dynamic creates challenges for Hyundai dealerships, it benefits buyers through attractive discounts. Additionally, Hyundai's upcoming Creta EV could prove to be a significant asset amid pressure to retain the No. 2 spot, while maruti is likely to continue losing market share.
