What price premium is being expected over the Nexon.EV LR for Curvv EV. I'm guessing it would be within 2-2.5 lakhs variant to variant.
Curvv will be priced just above the Nexon aimed at the base to mid variants of the Creta-Taigun, just around the price of Elevate and C3 Aircross and Sierra will be priced at around the mid variants to top-end of the Creta-Taigun segment. They will somehow overlap and will get into the aspirational area where customers can choose between coupe and boxy body styles. Harrier will be a little more premium thus giving a good choice for buyers.

Nexon EV LR may be dropped or trimmed, thus giving more space to place the Curvv EV. As it is Nexon LR EV is cramped with raised floor height in the rear seat.

re: Scoop! Tata Curvv test mule spotted in India. EDIT: Curvv Petrol launched at Rs. 10.00 lakh

Does anyone have an idea about the battery packs being offered in the Curvv EV?

I had read somewhere that they might put the 40 kWh battery pack and may offer a higher battery pack as well. If they can price a mid variant of the curvv (with 40kW battery, practical range of 300km) under 20L exshowroom, they might just have a golden opportunity here in terms of sales as it will be a great value for money car even for people who are not particularly looking for EV's.

The Nexon EV Max is a bit cramped for space and the curvv with a longer frame would offer batter space and boot as well, considering it is a gen 2 EV. With zero road tax in most of the states it will be a good offering and may attract possible buyers from the 4.3m category who are also worried about rising fuel prices.

In my opinion any EV with 300km of practical range is a decent highway car provided it has fast charging capabilities of at least 50-60kW. Tata needs to work on faster charging speeds.

We may need to take this news with a pinch of salt and wait for things to fold out for a clear picture.
The news is almost confirmed. Tata Motors is set to shift the manufacturing of the electric variant of the Nexon SUV from Pune to its newly acquired plant in Sanand. That means that the CURVV, that is also based on the Nexon, will also roll-out from Sanand plant.

Tata Motors plans to make the Ford acquired plant exclusive to manufacture EVs but initially it will also manufacture ICE cars slowly shifting to exclusive EV plant. So they may shift ICE too to the new plant.

If Tata is able to free space, then FCA can plan to launch new models. But FCA seems least interested for the moment.

NEXON EV production to shift to Sanand

How do you like this SUV coupe design?

It will be positioned above the Tata Nexon, launch expected by mid-2024

Spotted the Curvv on Mumbai-Pune Expressway on Tuesday morning. The car featured some cuts and creases and the flush door handles are quite evident. It was being driven at ~100 kmph. I couldn’t click better pictures as I was driving.

So finally TATA has announced an all new platform for the Gen 2 architecture that is on a heavily modified Alfa Architecture. This car will be base for all the next pack of EVs before the Gen 3 architecture based on the JLR EV platform cars. They are Punch, Curvv, Harrier and Sierra EVs. Of them the first 3 will roll out this year. Maybe the Safari EV will come on the JLR-based architecture.

This platform is wider than the current platform to house a bigger battery pack. The driving range will now be higher than before due to a new arrangement between 300 kilometers to 600 kilometers, using its existing cells.

The company is also readying the manufacturing line dedicated to EVs at the Sanand plant acquired from Ford.

That means that the CURVV is based on this brand new platform and is not the same as the NEXON EV that is wider, lighter and travels a lot longer than Nexon. So the CURVV looks like the NEXON but it's not the same.

Evo Editor Sirish says that the ICE Curvv will launch first this year, with the 1.2 GDi Turbo Petrol, and then the EV.

So that means that the current Nexon EV and ICE will soon shift to the new platform. This update was not a comprehensive one but just a facelift. After the Sierra in 2025 launch we will probably see the Nexon EV shift to the same platform or a more advanced platform in 2025. The Nexon to will be too old by then and will demand shifting to the Alfa Arc platform.

The Tiago hatchback and Tigor too need to shift to a newer platform. Maybe that will be put off till 2026 and may hit the roads for testing in 2025 end. Maybe we'll see a glimpse of them in Auto Expo 2025 including the all new Nexon

Saw this car on Pune - Satara highway. Got some information about the car from the driver. He requested not to take any photos. Interiors looks good, on similar lines what current Tata cars has. As per him this will be offered only with 1.5 Liter diesel engine. No petrol option will be available. As per him, real car will look quite different than it appears. Hope it will be good.

re: Scoop! Tata Curvv test mule spotted in India. EDIT: Curvv Petrol launched at Rs. 10.00 lakh

Tatas have always produced beautifully designed and pleasing looking cars unlike most other makers, starting from the Indica. Sumo was boxy but it was still a hot favourite of the masses.

Tigor reminds of 70s/80s era design while greatly retaining the fresh look.

Curvv looks a bit odd in the pictures to me but I'm sure it would look pretty once on the road. Till recently Tata was a truck maker but boy how have they matured to a great car maker. Looks are obviously subjective but to me Mahindra cars look a lot like Chinese cars except the old Scorpio/Bolero/Armada/'Jeeps'.

Curvv EV is going to come before ICE.

When asked about the company's product pipeline, he said that Curvv EV would be introduced around the second or third quarter of this calendar year.

"We are also hoping that by the fag-end of this year, we should also be able to introduce Harrier EV and internal combustion engine (ICE) version of Curvv," Chandra said.

re: Scoop! Tata Curvv test mule spotted in India. EDIT: Curvv Petrol launched at Rs. 10.00 lakh

Tata Curvv to also get diesel power.

Nexon’s 1.5-litre diesel will be seen on the Curvv as well.

Quote:
Curvv EV to launch first, followed by diesel
New direct-injection turbo-petrol engine to debut with Curvv
Will rival midsize SUVs like the Creta and Seltos
Series production of the Curvv will commence around April this year
Tata Motors has set a sales target of around 48,000 units for the Curvv SUV, which will be split between its EV and combustion-engined iterations; 12,000 units expected from the Curvv EV.
- Curvv EV will be the first to go on sale in the second half of this year.
- Diesel version will launch next, followed by the petrol model.

Quote:
This engine was upgraded to comply with BS6.2 emissions norms last year; Tata used a Passive Selective Catalytic Reduction system instead of an expensive SCR system, which requires a urea tank and injection system. This system is fit to soldier on until the next round of emissions norms are enforced.

No power and torque upgrades are expected, which means the Curvv diesel will have 115hp and 260Nm of torque – same as the Nexon. Gearbox choices will include a 6-speed manual and an AMT, similar to the Nexon.

AMT? In this segment? I hope they have some plan for a DCA or TC somewhere down the line. Both the Curvv and Nexon diesel will benefit from it.

I seriously doubt it will be an AMT. If it's so, Tata's hit over their own knees. They have to differentiate thiis over the Nexon as this will be a segment higher than just a greater than 4 meter Nexon. That's why they're giving a Turbo petrol engine and will have to plonk in a higher gear box. They will surely launch a DCA as they have the technology in collaboration with Punch Powertrain and sales of diiesel are approximately 45% in this segment. For TC, they will need to start afresh.

I am sure a DCA will be there for the Turbo Petrol. Its the AMT for the diesel I was talking about. Diesel's uncertain future might be refraining them from investing in a new transmission tieup for their 1.5 diesel. But, Curvv + Nexon diesel automatic sales projections might tempt them into investing in one. And if they have to invest in a tie up with a vendor, it can be either a DCA or a Torque converter.
