While this is not the right thread for this discussion, blending exists for quite a couple decades globally. Lot of people have run their vehicles on higher than recommended ethanol content for ages. It doesnt blasts your engine right away. Power output may reduce from factory specs though but if your vehicle is running good on E10, a switch to E30 doesnt means your vehicle stops cranking.

re: Scoop! Tata Curvv test mule spotted in India. EDIT: Curvv Petrol launched at Rs. 10.00 lakh

1.2 lakhs price difference between GDI and non GDI engines (+5hp and +55Nm)
For context Hyundai charges a premium for its 1.5L turbo versus the 1.5L NA (+45 hp and + 109Nm)

That being said the GDI variant pricing is on par with MPI Creta. The standard Turbo is priced really competitively and will likely be the more popular choice. The diesel and GDI prices are also same and the Curvv diesel undercuts Creta diesel by a lakh.

The only problem is, it will sit next to Nexon on the showroom floor and it will be evident it's basically a Nexon with a larger boot.

Agreed actually...It's essentially a bigger Nexon with elongated boot from outside. However interior is different totally, so is power trains.
However in my opinion, 1L less than Creta will not at all help diesel numbers. People will any day buy a SUV looking Creta, an established player year after year over Curvv.

₹1.5 lakh premium for +5HP increase is steep premium by looking at just the numbers. We will need to see real life tests of Hyperion GDi to see if it is more refined compared to Revotron and how many people prefer Hyperion over Revotron. Tata sales being casual as always and dealerships are not investing in all engine + gearbox combinations based on my experience of Nexon test drives in Hyderabad, it remains to be seen which engine will be available for test drives.

The only difference I see is that Hyperion generates 55 Nm more torque compared to 1.2 Revotron
- Hyperion 1.2 GDi generates 225 Nm torque @ 1750-3000 RPM
- Revotron 1.2 generates 170 Nm torque @ 1750-4000 RPM

I am really tempted to buy Curve ICE , probably 2nd or 3rd higher up version from base. I am very happy with new Safari and this will make a good daily runner. Not that big on features except decent speakers. I had i20 sports line on my mind for a while and had been waiting for any news on facelift but Curve is winning me over.

Not much has been revealed about the platform except that it is a new platform. But going over the looks of the curvv, it looks like the same X1 platform has been updated. It is a known practice in the auto industry.

Till the C pillar, the Curvv resembles the Nexon in size and design. It is only after the C pillar that the roofline curvature is different. Even the interior space is similar to the Nexon. It just looks like a Nexon with a boot. Heck, it looks less like a Coupe SUV and more like a super raised sedan.

Also, most coupe SUV's are derivatives of a normal SUV's. If Tata Motors could develop a Coupe SUV on the Nexon platform. They could also have developed a normal SUV for normal buyers, since the coupe SUV is a niche segment.

re: Scoop! Tata Curvv test mule spotted in India. EDIT: Curvv Petrol launched at Rs. 10.00 lakh

The second base model Pure+ looks great value 12.49 lak petrol and 13.99 lak in diesel for the DCA version. Advantage in Curvv diesel is that there is no need for DEF liquid unlike other 1.5 diesels. The 17 inch wheels don't look odd with those good looking wheel caps.

The first two pics are of the Pure+S variant which comes with hyper style wheels as TATA calls them and sunroof at 70k extra.

You are mistaken. X1 is a non-modular platform that can add a boot and can be lengthened by extending the body but cannot add width and also cannot change the roof structure. That is why more models could not be derived because of which the Nexon too was forced to be a coupe design. Tata Motors chose the design out of compulsion but not out of concept. The wheel size too cannot accompany not more than 16 inch wheels.

The Curvv too has been planned to replicate using the same parts for economies of scale and quicker turnover and hence Tata Motors chose it for the same reason. The platform ATLAS is highly modular and can accommodate up to 20 inch wheels. You can play with the length, width, roof design and floor design for various offering as per designers choice. They plan to use the same interiors to keep the costs low and quicker turnover. That is the reason for interior and exterior dimensions have been kept the same.

The Sierra will be debiting on the same platform but will be wider and longer and will be accommodating 18-20 inch wheels as it will have an EV 4X4 just like the Harrier too will be an EV 4X4.

When are media drive reviews and Team BHP review for this car going to drop. Does any one here know the dates?

For some reason, I can't find that info even after googling for it multiple times.

Also, Tata really needs to work on the details. On the booking page for example, the booking amount is shown as Rs. 21,000 and there is a mention of terms and conditions. But there is no active link to said Terms and conditions.

Does anyone here know what is the cancellation amount that dealers/TATA will charge on a booking? I know they will probably promise a quick delivery (looking at the Pure + DCA) but that short waiting period will eventually turn into months and I don't want to be the one holding the bill for that.

The only difference I see is that Hyperion generates 55 Nm more torque compared to 1.2 Revotron
- Hyperion 1.2 GDi generates 225 Nm torque @ 1750-3000 RPM

The core difference is that Tata's Hyperion 1.2L TGDI engine generates 225 Nm torque @ 1750-3000 RPM is to do with the gearbox. Previous TA-65 gearbox couldn't handle more than 180 NM of Torque that limited more power and Torque output due to the limited gear ratios. So this is an all new engine and gearbox combo that should throw in new gear ratios that can make the engine more free revving. I think this gearbox will also work along with the future 1.5L TGDi engine that will carry more power maintaining more Torque. That maybe the reason for pricing it premium.

Let's first experience the car before jumping into conclusions.

Isn't the interior the same as the Nexon? The dashboard and layout is very similar to my eyes, if not the same.

I agree with you. It doesn't look like a new platform to me either. Looks like the X1 platform with a stretched wheelbase. I think Tata Motors is doing some "smart" wordplay. They are not calling ATLAS a new platform. They are just calling it a new architecture. Quoting from Tata's press release: "Launches ATLAS – An Adaptive Tech forward Lifestyle Architecture made for its ICE vehicles"

Also, the width of the Nexon is 1804mm and the width of the Curvv is 1810mm. I am willing to bet that the track-width of both vehicles is exactly the same.

I am pretty sure it's the same platform but they have updated the technology architecture for feature parity with Nexon EVs.

Didn't the X1 platform spawn the Indica Vista, Indigo Manza and the Nexon. They all look like different roof structures to me.

All of them are the same roof structure. Look at the C pillar of the Indica Vista, Manza, Nexon, Bolt and Zest. They had to incur lots of modifications to make the changes that is why they went with the stock design.

Thanks for sharing this. I got to know more about gearbox which is used in current gent Nexon. I am waiting for a call from salesperson to inform me when both petrol engines Curvv will be available for test drive.

Does this also indicate 1.2 Revotron could get TA-65 gearbox and 1.2 Hyperion & 1.5 Kryotec engines get new gearbox?

Off topic question, Where do you find which gearbox is used in a car? Is this in the manual as I was looking for gearbox details on Harrier and could not find it in the online user manual
