Re: Rumour: Ertiga-based Toyota Rumion MPV launch by September

I believe that in a couple of years, we will see a market perception split with respect to Toyota's brand wherein, only the Crysta, Fortuner and Camry ( Land Cruiser and Velfire are in a different league altogether) will be seen as the "actual Toyotas" and everything else will be just seen as a rebadged Maruti Nexa Product. It is only a matter of time. We waited for 6 months for a Hyryder and when a vehicle was allotted this sentiment had started creeping in, within the family as well that essentially it is a Maruti Grand Vitara so what is the different. Now the family doesn't know that the engine is by Toyota etc but the internal dashboard is the same as the Baleno mostly and keep in mind they are not car enthusiasts either.

The Rumion looks decent enough but give or take 2 years, and Toyota's brand will take a hit just like Honda's did with the Amaze and Brio. But they have the Fortuner to protect them. I hope they don't allow the upcoming new one in a Nexa showroom with a new badge.

So is Toyota going to launch any actual cars which are Toyota? I just saw the Yaris on road today and though it was a dud in India, it actually looked like a Toyota. They seem to have made some bad decisions with his badge swap process.
