Re: 2024 Hyundai i20 facelift caught testing in India | Edit : Launched @ Rs 6.99 lakh

Very half hearted and underwhelming refresh, I did not like majority of the changes made

- The new dual tone interior looks weird, the old ones looked more premium. This somewhat looks cheap.
- New bumpers looks alright but doesn't enhance the looks
- Lost turbo engine options, now only one petrol engine is available. Hyundai is know to throw every option available to the customers but not in this case.
- Increased prices.

5. New LED DRL design (from Asta variants)
6. New alloy wheel design (from Asta variants)
7. Dual-tone color (DT Exterior) available in Sportz,Asta,Asta(O) Variants

2. The front fog lamps are removed - Disappointed (expected one)
3. Front cornering lamp removed - Disappointed (unexpected)
4. All black interiors options are removed.
5. The rear adjustable head rest (only 2 head rests) is reserved only for Asta (O) variants. Earlier, Three rear adjustable head rests were standard across all the variants - Disappointed (unexpected)

Re: 2024 Hyundai i20 facelift caught testing in India | Edit : Launched @ Rs 6.99 lakh

I hope they saved the 1L turbo for the N line because it was a banger of an engine. The 1.2 Kappa is seriously underwhelming for a car this size. And the lack of a 1.5 diesel will definitely bite Hyundai. Price hike was inevitable but still disappointing!

I'm in minority here but boy am I glad manufacturers are deleting fog lamps. Indians don't know when to use them, and they inevitably install illegally bright bulbs that blind the oncoming traffic. So, fewer the lamps, better it is. I hope larger SUVs by Indian manufacturers are next in this trend. I absolutely hate getting the glare from XUVs and Thars.

A big disappointment - No turbo petrol, No DCT and deletion of headrest really sticks out like a sore thumb. They should go ahead and axe the iVT versions too and introduce the AMT versions IMO.

Re: 2024 Hyundai i20 facelift caught testing in India | Edit : Launched @ Rs 6.99 lakh

It's very disappointing to see that Hyundai has axed the 1.0 Turbo petrol + DCT combo from i20 lineup. The 82bhp 1.2-litre Kappa feels severely underpowered for a hatchback of this size. IVT paired with this engine is a nice one though. It is said that the turbo petrol will be exclusive for the N-Line variants from now onwards. I was planning to pick up a 1.0 Turbo Asta DCT for my mom, and now I'm likely to reconsider the decision.

Honestly speaking, cosmetic changes which came as a part of this facelift doesn't look good to me. Dual-tone dashboard and the 'i20' writing on the seats somehow looks utter cheap, pre-facelift car's all-black interiors felt more premium. Even the rear-centre armrest is now deleted from the entire i20 range. The only welcoming addition inside the cabin is the flat-bottomed steering wheel.

Hyundai slowly killing i20 brand ? Favoring towards Venue due to cashbox ringing ?
Turbo is gone, DCT is gone and what else is left. NA is a guzzler and not so powerful when compared to other options. There is no diesel option too.
What else is left for them to kill the brand completely.
Safety ? Alright, not my cup tea.

Turbo and DCT will be reserved for N line variant. It is not axed. If one was planning for Asta Turbo DCT they will have to pick N Line now.

Features notwithstanding, I think, it will make a good second car in the Era variant with a manual gearbox. I think a good touchscreen system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay with speakers can be had for 35k.

I20 asta ivt always felt extremely overpriced (now even more so). Almost 2L additional exshowroom price over Altroz DCA XZA. Not sure what it brings apart from better Hyundai service experience.

Are you referring to pre-facelift version or the earlier gen? I have pre-facelift version, 2022 model sportz variant and it has two fixed headrests at rear.

The additions like 6 airbags, TPMS, ESC to comply with stricter safety norms are highly appreciated. They could've added 60:40 split seats too.

The dumbest move is to remove rear adjustable headrests from lower variants. Affects passive safety in a significant way. Such a cheap, retrograde step

Re: 2024 Hyundai i20 facelift caught testing in India | Edit : Launched @ Rs 6.99 lakh

I rechecked the thread date twice to confirm this is 2023? This i20 reminds me of the model we had in 2018/19 with 1.2 kappa CVT, only it looked wayyyy better (the Elite). Absolutely loved that design.

Newer i20 had one great thing in the 1.0 turbo dct, now that’s gone? Is hyundai deliberately trying to kill their once bread earner in favor of Venue? Am sure Venue won’t loose the 1.0 turbo DCT.

Re: 2024 Hyundai i20 facelift caught testing in India | Edit : Launched @ Rs 6.99 lakh

Removal of turbo petrol in standard i20 has been long time coming.

When I shopped for one and zeroed in on Sportz i20 1.0 in early 2022, I was clearly told that it is not manufactured (brochure be damned).

Escalated to dealer and Hyundai, I was told the same. The only option was to upgrade to N Line N6 which I ended up doing.

Glad Hyundai did not offer this interior trim at the launch, my 2022 i20 all black interiors looks much better (personal opinion). Not sure whether they changed the quality of materials though.

Yes. You are right. When they launched the third-gen i20 in 2020. Rear adjustable headrest and rear center armrest were reserved only for the Asta (O) Variant Top model. However, the i20 pre-facelift was refreshed in April 2023, along with BS6 phase 2 RDE norms. During this time, the i20 got three adjustable headrests and three 3-point seat belts, which were standard across all the variants, with the rear center arm set reserved only for the Asta (O) variant.Whoever got an i20 during that time got lucky and valuable for money, IMHO.

But this time, the i20 facelift
1. Rear adjustable headrests (only 2) are reserved only for the Asta (O) variant.
2. Rear center armrest are removed even in the Asta (O) variant.

Removing the three adjustable headrests and rear center armrest is a bad decision from Hyundai. They will face more heat from competitors like Baleno and Altroz, for sure.
