the marked rubber part (on both sides) in my GTX has become hard and the clips that hold the rubber part to the body are all broken / melted . Now the rubber part is coming off very easily near the windshield. are these parts available in the market?

Yes planet, those rubber parts should be available with the dealer. If not, I am sure he can place an order for you.

Yes Surya. They are available and you can place an order at the dealership.

If that takes a long time, there are always independents to depend on.

@ JVH, Kiran(MF) & Lohith - Thanks a lot

But i have stopped taking my car to the FIAT ASC since long (Don't know whether TATA-FIAT guys are good in Kolkata) - i get most of the work done at a Hyundai ASC (Alok Hyundai, Kolkata).

Well the clips are available with a local distributor of spare parts (Royal Motors) - the clips (see attached pic) cost Rs 20 / piece and they sit behind the rubber part and gets locked to the body. I have ordered for the clips at the moment and will collect them in the evening.

Thanks again.

@Planet_Rocker,

I too had to buy these clips some time back for my Palio and the cost was almost same. you can also get the rubber beading (not sure whats the technical word for this !) around 500-600. The whole set might cost you more

Just a small update: got the clips last evening - bought 6 pieces.

Today while fixing the rubber part (DIY) - broke one of them - i guess i am going to keep it that way.

Thanks everyone for the help. Take care and drive safe

I don't have a Palio Stile accessible to do a comparo. Anyone willing to offer their car for testing? We could try to generate crash test results too.

Wondering if anyone could link to any picture of a retro palio with the bumper removed. Attaching a picture of my car and I think the circled part was wider / longer to almost the width of the car in retro palios

Hey Moralfibre,
Any update on this project? I am also planning for a similar thing in my GTX. I have sourced a 4x2x1 exhaust manifold from chor bazaar, but was unable to get the piping. Any update on your project will be very helpfull.
Cheers!

Few things I got from Service Advisor:

Alternator Make =
GTX - Magneti Marelli
S10 - Magneti Marelli/Bosch
1.6 Sport - Bosch
1.6 Stile - Lucas-TVS

All TA** will outsource the overhauling of alternator, starter motor to appropriate maker's service center.
