That’s true, not sure why both Mahindra and Tata have not launched a SUV that will take Creta/Seltos head on?

Others have tried but fallen short either on space(VW Cousins) or safety(MS,Toyota).

I mean you have a benchmark, a product that has been doing great numbers since long.

It’s good to see VW group has cracked it with sedans and Honda City is no longer the default choice, hope someone cracks Creta segment as well.

Going by the features, the top end Turbo petrol + TC + Sun-roof can easily touch the 20 Lakh OTR price, I guess.

In that case, this will be dead on arrival. Size matters. After all, this is still a sub 4 metre crossover with a tiny boot.

Pray it is the diesel automatic. But Mahindra petrols have never been rev friendly and are designed to be diesel like in power delivery characteristic.

They maybe not so sure of facing Creta head on. Maybe that is why TATA is going the coupe SUV route with the Curvv and ride on nostalgia/brand recall route with the Sierra.

Also Mahindra is in a tight fix with the slightly premium pricing of the XUV300 and the low pricing of the XUV700 entry variants. Guess they are biding time to slowly increase XUV700 pricing so that an XUV500(?) can slot in the price gap. Ofcourse, depends on their future BEV strategy too.

This does not get ADAS? Atleast the steering buttons don't show it. Also I hope that's a frameless autodimming IRVM. Not the same cost cutting as 7OO by giving manual dimming IRVM.

At this point, these little bits and pieces of information and blurry screenshots are getting real exhausting. I shudder when I think this is probably just a trailer of the trailer (pre trailer?). We're yet to see the launch song and dance, then the price reveal mega event a month after that, followed by screenshots of media reviewers in various asans next to the car with the "drop date". Please just show us the final car now whenever you see fit dear M&M!

I might be in the minority but the front end looks so bad in comparison to the outgoing model, which actually has a handsome face. This seems way too tacky.

Totally agree. But if everything else is a compelling package, it will sell nonetheless just like XUV 500 and XUV 700. They too don’t have handsome front-ends (imho) with tacky oversized DRLs looking like a Karolbagh job. I don’t understand our fascination with chrome and now LED!

It would be a big deal if it was 0-100 in 4.5 seconds. 0-60 is no big deal under 5 seconds.

Exactly! IDK why this hype around 0-60 figures? As if their claiming a 0 - 100 time of 4.5 secs!! I think even a decent sized NA engine can achieve close to the 0-60 figures.

To be honest, the 1.5L diesel is a gem of a motor. 300NM of torque really makes its presence felt when you pedal to the metal. I won't be shocked if this 0-60 number is from the diesel motor.

Sorry if I came as vague.

I meant advertisements in general, not just the XUV300. Companies will show the best figures possible irrespective of the engine/transmission options as long as it is the same car.

For example, Kia may mention the fuel efficiency of the 1.5l diesel manual in their advertisement, alongwith the 0-100 timing of the 1.5l turbo petrol manual. They will show pics of the paddleshifters in the 1.5l turbo DCT, while advertising the price of the base 1.5l NA petrol. All these will be mentioned in the fine print with a '*'. But in a casual glance it will seem like the Seltos will do 0-100 in sub 9 secs, while giving 20+ km/l mileage and equipped with sporty paddle shifters. All for 10.99 lakhs.

I think M&M will play the card of featurization, fast engines to hide the drawback of comprised boot space.

I will wait for the final unveil to comment on how the car looks, but if the leaks / renders are to be believed - M&M has dressed up a handsome car like a clown! (personal view).
