Car - Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire (2011 model original more than 4m)

Fuel - Petrol

Tank size - 40L

City mileage - 11 kmpl

Highway mileage - 13 kmpl

Practical range (mostly city) - 380 km

Maruti Suzuki Baleno Petrol
Tank - 37 litre
Range -- 450 km to 500 km in city use. On highways easily gives around 550+ km

Tata Harrier XZA+
Tank - 50 litre
Range -- 450 km In City and 650+ on Highways. Max Range on Instrumentation Cluster I have seen to date is 850 km.

Great thread. I personally focus more in the range of the car as long as the fuel economy isn’t too bad.

Without surprise diesels shine here. Famously, the Audi team won races with their TDi cars because they had to make lesser stops to refuel.

At home two cars with great range is the w211 and fortuner.

W211 gives a huge mileage range of 8-15 kmpl depending on the driving style and roads. With an 80 liter tank, this translates to 640 - 1200 kms of range. 2013 Diesel Automatic Fortuner gives a mileage of 10-14 kmpl depending on the mileage and the roads. So, with a 70 liter tank this translates to 700 plus kms of range.

My personal favourite is the w211 here since it offers brilliant range, comfort and driving fun. Truly the go to car for highway runs and long trips.

Car & Engine: VW Jetta 2.0 TDi
Fuel tank size: 55L
City tank range: Approximately 770 - 880 km
Highway tank range: Approximately 950 - 1100 km

Car & Engine: Ford Freestyle 1.5 TDCi
Fuel tank size: 40L
City tank range: 650-720 km . I get around 16-18 kmpl inside city,
Highway tank range: 800 - 950 odd km. But I always fill back when it is at 1/4 mark .

Well I am pretty happy with the tank range , even if I have some short blasts(120+) in highways still Freestyle manages an average of at least 20 kmpl.

Tata Indica Vista TDI
1405 cc Diesel
37 litre tank
City range 550 to 600 kms on tankfull
Highway range 650 to 700 kms on tankfull
Mileage 160000 kms Sold after 7.5 yrs

Ford Aspire TDCI Titanium
1500 cc Diesel
42 litre tank
City range 650 to 750 kms on tankfull
Highway range 850 to 950 kms on tankfull
Mileage 100000 kms My current car 7th year running
Plan to keep it for another 3 years atleast
Superb engine, extremely reliable and cheap maintenance

Are you getting 32 KMPL from Celerio

I guess it's a typo error. 32 KMPL is next to impossible

4th gen Honda City Petrol MT (2014)
Tank capacity:35L ( official) but takes in ~40L before auto cut off
City: 400-450 kms (if driven sedately)
Close to 300 kms if I'm redlining it in 2nd gear like a maniac :coldsweat

Highways: close to 600 kms (cruising within 100 kmph)
Drops to about 520 kms when cruising @ 120 kmph

This is in the Gulf, I generally drive the various company cars available:

Hyundai Elantra 1.6 CVT (2022):

705 km (this is crazy efficient)

Toyota Camry 2.4 (2017):

526 km

Cadillac DTS 4.6 V8 (2006):

340 km

BMW 330i xDrive MSport (2ltr, 4cyl Petrol)
Fuel tank: 60ltrs
Highway range: 770kms
City range: 705kms

BMW 535i xDrive MSport (3ltr, inline six Petrol)
Fuel tank: 70ltrs
Highway range: 820kms
City range: 665kms

Ford Edge(3.5ltr, V-6 Petrol)
Fuel tank: 68ltrs
Highway range: 755kms
City Range: 650kms

Hyundai Santa Fe (3.5ltr, V-6 Petrol)
Fuel tank: 75ltrs
Highway range: 880kms
City Range: 765kms

Vento 1.6 Tdi 2012
Fuel Tank Capacity: 55L (but fills 63-64 easily)
City Range: ~ 700kms
Highway with rapid acceleration and spirited driving: ~900
Highway with steady around a 100: ~1200

I’m always amazed by the figures it returns.

Maruti Ritz Zxi 2013
Tank capacity: 43L
I have never driven completely in the city, the car does Highway duty mostly with family. Has only covered 47k in 10yrs
Max Range driven: 657 ( filled 38.4L after)
Least mileage obtained: 14.58 Km/L
Max mileage obtained: 18.85 Km/L

I don't know if my driving has changed or the car is returning low mileage lately I'm only averaging 16.1 Km/L on highways.
The spark plugs were changed at 35k.
Filters are always new.
Fuel is almost always at Reliance/Essar.
Checked MAF sensor, looks clean.
Any ideas on improving mileage?

Thank you,
Happy motoring.
