My FIESTA 1.4 Petrol gives me Only 9 kms in Mumbai City - Morning 8:30 Driving of 25 Kms and in the Evening- 6:30 Driving back.!!

And the Eastern Express and Western Express Highway Roads in Mumbai are anything but Express - they are at best back lane roads with Pot Holes and Inverted Speed Breakers and Bone Crackers !

Guys,
I am getting overall 19+ kmpl average for my 2005 Alto Lx. All readings are tankful to tankful except for 1-2 times where I have put entries for next fill.

This is the detailed breakup.

Swift VDI - 23K kms, 13 mths old.
City - 17-18 with 0% AC, never exceed 80kph most of the times.
Highway - 17-18 with 100% AC, >= 120 kph most of the times.

Confident no error in calculation as the re-fuels' are always tank-full.

Zen 1996 - Red

City: 10-11 Kmpl (without AC)

Highway: 16-17. The mileage decreases a bit when exceeding 110.

tata safari dicor:- 10 (city) 12 (highway)
honda city type 2:- 9 (city) 13 (highway)
honda accord 6th gen:- 6.5 (city) 7.25 (highway)
hyundai santro:- 11 (city). No highway driving in santro done ever in 4years.

all results with A/C. Highway results not very good because i 'm always between 140-160kmph on the bombay-pune runs.

Anyway, was talking to an acquaintance a few days ago.
He has bought Palio SLX 1.1.

He was telling that at speeds of 80 on highway, the car's FE was about 21kmpl.
Talked to the service station guy to increase the FE.
Was advised to drive at around 110 kmph on highway.
The car returned FE of almost 25 kmpl!

The only drawback is its difficult to overtake on highways - too slow an acceleration.

Probably this will be a record FE.
But driving at higher speeds in a given gear would consume more fuel as the engine is working harder and running at higher RPMs. It is surprising that driving driving at 110 kmph is giving better FE than driving at 80 kmph.

Thats some HUGE log you've maintained. I can never do that.

BTW why is there a difference in Zen D and Di - I thought the only difference was the power steering, same TUD5 engine isn't it?
