Highway - 18 to 20 without a/c at speed mostly around 100-130
16.5 with a/c speed 90-110
That seems to be a very good figure! How many times have you been able to achieve this?

Hi all,

Iam Sivia from chandigarh , i usually travel to Muktsar (Native Place) Punjab approx 300 Km from Chandigarh every weekend.
Lancer Diesel 2003 gives 15km /ltr in city drive
18 Km/ltr Highway
after installing K&N extreen free flow air filter and engine rev below 2000 it is giving 18 Km/ltr in city & 20Km / Ltr on highway.

Lancer Petrol 2000 :: Gives 10-11 Km /ltr & 13 Km /ltr on Highway
Esteem Petrol 2000 :: Gives 13-14 Km / Ltr & 15 on highway

After reading one post here on T-BHP that Alto was giving him around 16+ in city conditions I wanted to check what is my Alto's FE. So last week I filled the tank 25 ltrs (not full tank) made the trip meter 0 and then started driving.
Been driving in heavy trafic and sometimes normal trafic and sometimes with AC and sometimes without. Finally I there was a time when I had to refuel and this was the FE when calculated it came to 17.3km/L.

The modifications on this car is Performance K&N Filter and Free flow from Automech.

Hi,

That is not a correct way to check FE. Pl make a full tank drive minimum 200kms and refill to full then check the FE.

My driving seems to have improved for FE

City FE: 7.5 to 8.5 KMPL (I drive a KM eachway every day and a total of 4 KMs). It goes from 8.5 to 10 KMPL when I go for longer city drives or outskirts trips.

Highway FE : approx 11.5 to 13 A/C on fully loaded. Lower side of the number comes because of breaks of 10-20 mins with engine and A/C on.

I have not seen much difference in city FE with/ without A/C.
My latest number: 8.7 KMPL on regular IBP, 315.8 KMs/ 36.29 Ltrs. There is a difference in PSI I tried during this period, 28 psi prior (vs) 30 psi during this period.

Will check the FE with Xtra Premium and report the results, reverted back to 28 PSI upon workshop suggestion.

My Petrol Innova returned me in congested bangalore traffic around 7.5KMpl with 50% ac on. This is good mailege considerring traffic jams I got struck 2 times for 30 minutes. Otherwise it should return 8KMpl, on hihgway I expect around 11kmpl, next week I am travelling in highway I will come back with that figure.

Regards,

Ravi.

How i calculate FE:

1. Fill up the full tank. Record the amount of petrol got filled (there is always some amount of petrol left). Record the no of kms or reset trip meter to 0
2. Drive until u feel the car has enough petrol to take you to petrol station
3. Record the no. of kms you drove. And get the tank full and see how many liters did it took.

Now divide the amount of kms by the amount of petrol which u just got filled in your car. Now that is your true FE according to me and that is the way i calculate it.

An update for Skoda members. One of my friend in Delhi has a Skoda Rider Stock and its ltr/100km meter mostly shows that it takes around 5.5 - 5.8 ltr of petrol to 100km but when they calculated fe while this method the FE came to be 13.2 only. Is anyone having similar issues ?

Sreenivas,
Your car being 2 yrs old, don't you think the figures are too low? As I said earlier, I am consistently getting 11+ in bangalore. May be you drive it with a heavy foot. Do you have Shell or Relience outlets there in Hyderabad? You should try them.
