There might be other factors contributing to increase in FE like cold weather, less traffic etc. But this is surely in highway mileage territory. This can't be an isolate case as one of my friend driving a VENTO TDI DSG also confirmed his FE has too increased from 13 kmpl to 16 kmpl.

Or BS6 fuel has really increased the FE of BS4 engine specifically diesel engines
Great to know this. So its not only me and my car then. I also double checked using the full tank method and indeed the average is hovering around 21 in local city drives. I never used to get more than 16 earlier.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Offtopic but couldn't find thread to ask - Fuelio users, I get an error message everytime I click on "fuel prices" - it says that I don't have access to this feature yet.

It would be really convenient if the app could check current fuel prices for my region automatically instead of me entering it.

The error message is shown below, why does this show?

Too good. Can you let me know the kind of traffic encountered (City/Highway) while achieving this mileage. Yaris is in my shortlist but have to decide between CVT and MT. Any suggestions?

I did this trip from Bangalore to Rameshwaram via NH44 and the roads were excellent with less traffic as it was a weekday. We were two people with a week's worth of luggage and we limited our speed to 80 kph and that's one of the key reasons for the good mileage. About 20% of this trip was inside Rameshwaram and Madurai cities where the FE dropped to 11kpl. On pure highway drives we get 23kpl with AC set at 25C if speed maintained at 80. If driven at 120kph then it drops to 16 kpl.

My usage is 50% city and 50% highway and overall I have driven about 7500km till now with an average FE of 16kmpl (Fuelio logs attached)

Please take the above mileage figures with a pinch of salt because both myself and my wife are very sedate drivers who do not accelerate/brake suddenly and we maintain speeds of 80kph most of the times. Some of my colleagues who drive spiritedly struggle to get even 18kmpl on highways so It all depends on driving style.

Regarding MT vs CVT, go for CVT if you frequently drive in bumper to bumper traffic and MT if most of your driving is in highway. CVT does have a pronounced rubber band effect but it can be managed by learning the car's throttle response and modulating it accordingly.

It's a gem of a car and I would definitely recommend it if you are planning to keep it for 10 years or more. If you are thinking of changing it within 5 years or if you are a pedal to metal kind of driver, please avoid. It's resale value is pathetic and engine's power band is not suited for those quick acceleration runs. I hope it helped and all the best!

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Due to this (The Big Fat Panda - Story of our Hyundai Creta SX+ Petrol) incident I had a chance to drive my FIL's MS Swift from Trivandrum to Kochi and this is what I observed;

Car: MS Swift Petrol (MY 2014)
AC on with blower speed at 1-2 with Max cooling.
FE as per MID readout - 25.6kmpl!
Tyre pressure is 33 psi

I refueled till auto cutoff and drove for about 190 kms and needle has barely moved. It has not even reached the first mark. I kept to speeds of 60-70kmph and didn't rev the engine much. This is why Maruti sells by truckloads in our country. For me, this was a welcome change from the usual 12-13 kmpl FE of the Creta.

FE as per mid after the 230km journey. I had reset it before starting.

What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?-img_20200831_123329.jpg

Range (DTE) left after completing 192 kms since refueling.

Fuel gauge after the trip. The picture was taken today so it's showing some movement. Yesterday it was still stuck at the full mark.

I have owned a Dzire from that generation. The MID FE readings are usually 25% more than actual tankful readings. Your real mileage could be about 20.5 km/l, which is still much more than the ARAI rating of 18.6. Were you cruising at 70-80 kmph?

Fuel gauges are designed to remain at 100-0-% for most of the time, before starting to drop rapidly to reach 20-0%, where they would again remain longer.

More like 60-70 kmph. Since I had an incident (The Big Fat Panda - Story of our Hyundai Creta SX+ Petrol) with my car a couple of days before, I was being super cautious.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Today's run from home to karolbagh and back. There is usually a 0.5-1 kmpl difference in MID and tank to tank. This car gives phenomenal FE within City.
Car- Honda City Idtec
Odo- 1,22,600 kms till now.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

We own a 2014 Honda City iDTEC,which has run close to 1,00,000 Kms and I get the FE of around 16.5-18 Kmpl in the city even after driving in spirit mode. While on the highways,we get around 21-22 Kmpl(haven't checked the FE on highways much) and in mixed conditions,we get around 19 Kmpl.

The least I got is I guess around 15 Kmpl.

On the other hand,we own a 2011 Innova too and we get FE of around 9-11 Kmpl in city while on highways,we get around 11.5-12.5 Kmpl and sometimes,we get 13 Kmpl too though once I got the mileage of around 15.5 Kmpl too on highways.

The FE is the prime reason why we prefer Honda City over the Innova in city.
