I drive sedately in city and avoid futile acceleration. Apart from auto on/off SHVS does have its impressions on the average in real life. Not actually a complete gimmick.

Under similar conditions and load, my EcoSport AT returned 15.2 kmpl during a recent trip from Hyderabad to Vijayawada. I maintained speed between 80 and 90 on cruise control.

In my Kodiaq tank-full method gave me around 12.5-13 kmpl while the MID shows 14.5-15. Just like my previous Santa Fe can't trust MID figures and only go by tank-full method. I do expect it to improve as its only does 700kms.

I drive a Rapid 1.6 Petrol around.
City figures stand at 11-13kmpl average and Highway stands at 15kmpl average(5 people 110kmph). A tankful(55 L) range is around 750 km with a 50:50 drive in the city and highway. I rev it hard 75% of the times.
