Not enough factors mentioned here. Such a difference can be made just by the differing numbers of cars you had to overtake or whether there were more climbs on the way to pune.

Case in point my real life average:

2012 Hyundai EON Magna+ (P)
Odo: ~59000
Hwy/City: 80/20
FE:
Summer: 18-20 kmpl - 100% AC
Winter: 22-24 kmpl - 15% AC (even Dec-Jan here in Ahmedabad)

Eon with its LED fuel gauge makes it easier to note how one is driving, but on seemingly similar runs (daily A-B), I sometimes get 90km for 1 point but on others 80k. I reset the B-trip meter for each LED mark.

OT - While writing the last bit it just struck - Damn! I have FE OCD

One simple reason would be that while traveling to Pune would be a incline whereas returning from Pune would be a decline. Hence the difference .

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

2008 Ford Fiesta (1.4 Diesel)
Odometer reading: 94000
FE: 19 kmpl (Tankfull)
50% City/ 50% highway (Winters so No AC)

Mentioning this because the last time I saw this efficiency figure was when the car had run 30k KMs.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Ride: Maruti Wagon R F10D (P)
Model: 2010
engine: 1.1 L
highway Run: B'lore to tirupati + Tirupati Local run - Total = 647 Kms
Fuel Consumed: ~31 L
AC: 0% completed Journey.
Speeds maintained: 70-90 kmph.
Fuel Mileage: ~20.2 kmpl.
Reaction: Awesome, Mileage really depends on how car is driven, apart from speeds maintained.

Refer my previous post. I wonder how it can drop to this level. Surprising thing was that I did 20000km service, in spite of crossing only 16000km with all fluids replaced

Vehicle: RITZ VDI
MIleage: 16000+
Distance travelled: 319.7
Fuel filled: 20.37L
Terrain: Fully city
AC Usage : Very occassionally
FE: 15.7KMPL :( :(
(It has dropped from a proud 17.5 kmpl to 18.2 kmpl

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Updating the FE stats:

Car: Hyundai i20 CRDI Asta 2012.
Mileage: 29441 km
  • Best FE ever = 24.71 Km/L (90% highway run)
  • Average FE = 18.06 Km/L (60 - 40 city highway)
  • Worst FE ever = 12.94 Km/L
  • Avg Cost per Km = Rs 2.83

The average cost per kilometer has gone up on account of higher diesel prices. Also I was getting atrocious FE @ ~25K mileage which improved significantly after an early 30K service.

Surprised? Well honestly I was!
