Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I don't know whether this information qualifies considering the specifics shared by others but here are overall averages, not with a specific road or traffic condition in mind but averages over cumulative use, I have these figures from earlier calculations in memory, this is with tankful to tankful approach and average speeds varying from 60 kmph to 120 kmph, all manual gearboxes and fuel from same pump, majorly my driving in mix of traffic and meandering roads, not sling shot straight roads and no much crawling traffic, but being Goa needs constant gear shifts.

Hyundai Sonata crdi - 13 - 13.5 kmpl
Honda City ZX - 13 - 14 kmpl
Hyundai i10 Kappa - 14 - 15 kmpl
Skoda Fabia Tdi - 19 - 20 kmpl

And the surprise quotient - my friends 1st gen Toyota Camry petrol manual at 11.5 to 12.5 kmpl, surprising because the 1.2's and 1.5's struggle to be consistent around 13 - 14 kmpl and the Camry easily averages 12 kmpl with a 2.4 liter engine, maybe its all down to the lesser gear shifts with all that torque early on and the smooth suspension on rough roads.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

This Independence Day I took off for my native place in my trusty Santro Xing CNG. I ad already driven 125 kms in city drives to & back from office. I refueled again at Kundli border CNG station. Previous refill was 8 kgs & then I got 8.5 kgs CNG more at the CNG station. I traveled 482 kms on CNG with AC used for around 20% of the time. Thus my mileage on CNG was approximately 29.5 kmpkg, & could have been have been higher if I had driven light & without AC.

Highway mileage was 30+ definitely, as in my office drives (i start early) I get 25 kmpkg regularly.

I kept the car under 100 kmph most of the time, due to (expected) presence of speed guns enroute.

OT : Saw at least 5 TBHPians in vehicles of different sizes... could not bond with them as I don't have TBHP stickers (rather none) on my car. All drove with discipline... TBHP effect.
However, these days highway traffic on Delhi Chandigarh route is worst kind, with people trying to win FI races Hamilton style.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

My 5 year old Alto has been through a mix of city and highway drives. In the city, I normally get an average of 16 to 17Km to the liter. This is without A/C. On the highway, if i keep the speed below 100, then the mileage goes up to 20. However, above 100 and with A/C, it drops down to about 14km/l.

The Polo Diesel has fared far better. On recent highway trips, I've got figures between 20 to 26km to the liter. In-city driving ranges between 14 to 18 depending on traffic conditions.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

I live in Dubai & I drive a Lancer GT 2.0 with a CVT. My daily drive to office and back is through a moderately packed freeway/motorway/expressway, to & fro distance is about 110 kms.

Now, even though the traffic is not exactly light, we can still manage to drive at the speed limits because of the 6+6 lane roads.

My average speed on the freeway is about 130-135 kmph to & fro. Average speed of the whole journey as displayed on the MID is usually 95-105 kmph. A/C is always ON (but of course).

I get 11-11.5 kmpl, calculated on tankful to tankful basis. I dont know whether that is good enough.

Some may wonder why I am calculating my fuel bills in UAE! I am an enthusiast like you all and I like to know every aspect of my car's performance.

I am getting a feeling that you drive with a heavier right foot as both of these cars should return better figures.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

CAR:Honda City ZX VTEC,2006.

Mixed(Highway+City)= 16km/l

Only Highway=20-22 km/l

Not tested in city.

All these calculations are strictly FULL TANK to FULL TANK method.

I take this as a compliment.

Well on a serious note I am actually getting it.

20-22Km/l as I mentioned was on the route Khopoli-Kolhapur-Khopoli(550-600kms round trip, all smooth highway).

I got the same when I did Khopoli-Belgaum_khopoli(900 kms odd round trip).

Car Is extremely well maintained with every 6months(8000 kms) oil,oil filter and air filter replacement(oil=read Mobil1).I also change the oil filter every 4k KMS and top the oil.

Car has done over 100k KMS.

Well there are few open secrets.

I keep my revs to 2500 max, which co-relates to 75-80 kmph, which I feel is safe and economical fuel wise.

Also once a while I do max my car upto 140-145 KMPH just to flush out any carbon deposits.

Nextly as I already mentioned in my previous post,I am quite particular in oil change intervals.06 months and or 7k-8k kms I change it.(Mobil 1).Also the air filter is replaced.

Also after every 4k kms I change just the oil filter and replenish it with the oil that remains with me.

I do agree this mileage is on the higher side but its a sweet fact.No wonder I become the butt of jokes amongst my friends and colleagues.
