Don't misunderstand me but can you paste the screen shot or image of the manual that says 5 psi increase is required for highway/high speed driving?

The recommended pressure for Dzire petrol is 33psi for all the four tires. Bumping it by 5psi would take them to 38, but we chose to go with 37. One more thing is, 37psi was filled when tires were not completely "cold". I assume there'd be a 1-2psi increase between hot and cold tire pressures.

No offense intended to any members, but I'm of the opinion that the manufacturer would know the limits and limitations of their product better compared to us. MSIL would have thought about safety, braking, etc., aspects well before writing their manual.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Went on a longish drive to a temple yesterday. The temple Thirumandhamkunnu is situated on a hillock outside Perinthalmanna town - about 150 kms from Cochin. Route taken : Cochin-Thrissur-Perumpilavu-Kootanad-Pattambi-Koppam-Perinthalmanna. The roads were good - 4 lane upto Thrissur and smaller roads thereafter but good surfaces. Drove at a steady 80 thanks to the cameras (speed traps) on the 4 lane.
Distance covered approx 300 kms - FE 14. (At one stage - on the trip up - Cochin/Thrissur I got 15). This is the highest I've got on this car thus far.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Vehicle: Maruti Alto Lxi
Completed 48,000 KM as of date.
Within city, without A/C - about 17km/l. I don't keep a track on the exact mileage, but the calculation before the bunk visit usually gives me around this figure.
Highways, without A/C - about 20km/l. Keep the speed between 80 to 100 km/hr.
Highways, with A/C - drops to 15km/l at the same speeds.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

For a tankful of shell super, my 1.2 Swift (older generation) returned 19.25 KMs to the liter. 1/3rd of it was City driving, and the rest highways including multiple ghat sections.
Frankly, at 89.xx (dont remember the exact cost at the time of filling) , the price difference is too much for the 1 kpl or so benefit observed. I am back on regular unleaded.

PS : The car is a 2010 model with just ~23,000kms on the odo.

Screenshot of the fuel consumption log for my Punto MJD done 8.5K kms. Approximately 3-3.5K kms of them on the highway. Rest within Pune. Last two fill ups have given less mileage than normal. I assume that can be attributed to the fact that most of the trips on these last two occasions were just 4 - 5 kms long.

As others responded: its Fuel Log. It has a regular and a pro version.
What the pro version gives is capability to export a CSV which can be taken to an Excel. (Maybe other free-apps may also have this feature).

All you need to do is at every fill-up, take a few minutes and :

- Enter the stats on your phone. Cost/Litre, Litre of Fuel, Odo reading etc.
- You can export a CSV of the cumulative detail to any cloud server client (drop box/google drive etc) which then uploads it to the cloud.
- Next time when on your PC, you have all the details in their, thanks to the synced-up Drop-box/Google drive/or any other cloud client.

I have been maintaining stats for my car right from day one and needless to say it works seamlessly. I have the pro-version.

But at every fill-up you need to do the due diligence to enter the details. (which I think is quite easily doable).
