Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Recent trip to Bangalore:

Kms covered - 527

City:Highway ratio - 20:80

AC off - 100%

T2T, Total mileage - 527 kms/30.80 litres = 17.11

Car - Baleno, on highway achieving 18-19kms for a litre is highly possible under controlled driving. In city, I shift at 3200-3400 rpms, so I am quite happy with a mileage of 9kms for a litre..

Speeds 90-110kms/hr

4x2x1 Headers- expansion chamber (no KNN airfilter )
195/65/r14

Figures without AC
(speeds not above 100kmph)
City - 7.5
Highway - 9 ( updated )

Occasional gunning the car. but soon as im on 50kmph i am on the 5th gear

Yes i am disappointed .
I have a similar spec OHC, a 1.3L though. 88k odo, 1999 model!!

Bumper to bumper mumbai traffic i manage 11-12 kmpl with ac 80% of the time. quiet happy for such an old car.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Car: Alto K10 with 251 kms on the ODO.
Use: Rare. Mostly drives along ECR.
Took the car to Pondy this weekend. AC was on at all times.Journey to Pondy was done at a sedate pace of 80-90 KMPH with rpm below 2800.Used the car inside Pondy and also drove to the Auroville along super narrow roads with lots of braking. Return trip was fast with average speeds of 100-110 though RPM was kept at 3000 only.
Total fuel consumed: 21.8 L
Total distance travelled: 320 kms.
Mileage:14.54.
I am sure the 30 kms inside Pondy totally rogered the figures. It was mostly a 2nd gear crawl with AC on.
I am sure the 1st service will improve the mileage somewhat.

Though could be labelled as an apples to oranges comparison, but I just wanted to share that normally my car runs about 600kms on a tankfull. When I refill it sips about 30 to 31 litres of diesel. That gives me a mileage of 19-20 kmpl. It is a 2004 Indica DLX, done 97+K kms.

Always felt Indicas IF properly maintained can return fantastic mileage. Once travelled in an Indica from BRPL, Bongaigaon to Guwahati...it a DLE model with 97K on the odo and ran like butter. The owner told me he gets 19-21 KMPL with AC on regularly if he keeps to the 80-90KMPH band.A bit of TLC and Indicas can run like a charm.

Very true. One of our Tech Gurus on the other forum (TIUG) extracts 22-23 kmpl regularly with in city (NCR) driving, with AC on most of the times, from his 2005 Indica DLE. Mind you his car has run close to 140K kms & could run like this for eternity

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Guys wouldn't it be better if we post the tyre pressure too when posting the mileage figures.

Just my 2 cents.

Yes your are right. Tyre pressure makes a remarkable difference on ride quality, fuel efficiency & tyre life.

By the way I maintain 32 psi in front & 30 psi in the rear (company recommended is 30 & 28) so 2 psi + in all the tyres. This is one of the reasons for good FE & longer tyre life. My original tyres were Bridgestones (S322) & served me well for 62K kms. Currently I drive on Michelin XM1+, already done 35+ K kms on them & they look good for another 30K.

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

2009 Chevy Spark - ODO - just above 30K

I get 12-15 in City and 17-19 on highway (Now a days 50% AC)

Highest I got was during my June drive from Bangalore-Kannur - 350KM - relaxed drive and mixed road condition (Highway , bad road, ghat road and city roads) returned ~25KMPL. I'll try to achive similar figure during my next week long drive.

I maintain 30 in all tyres against the company indicated 32 since I feel Alto K10 is slightly bouncy at 32 psi. Will keep it at 32 next time I go to Bangalore and check out if there is any increase in the mileage.
Amen

Re: What is your Actual Fuel Efficiency?

Elantra GLS 7-8 kmpl city, 12-13 kmpl highway, 22500kms, November 2005. This is my lone ride and don't have much running to do, so don't mind the FE.
