20.8 is very impressive with the 1.3l engine. The best I have ever managed with my Swift Vxi is 16.8kmpl. do you think the pipercross filter & iridium plugs are giving you a better FE? I have the stock filter & MGP plugs but am considering changing them.
I know that this thread is all about a good FE, but I'd like to introduce a discordant note by revealing my worst FE. It is 9 kmpl driving in the city pedal to metal. I was trying to see how low the FE could actually get.

Im a bit skeptical about some of the mileage figures of Diesel Swift's posted here. Do people really manage to get 16-17 kmpl in the city?

Reason im saying is i have a Swift VDI myself and even when i drive with a light foot, max ive managed is 15-15.5 in the city(measured tankful to tankful) and on the highway 20.5 kmpl while driving between 80-100 constant

In city Average : 16.5 with 40% A.C. Very short distance freqent run-abouts within Pune city. I pay close to 2.25 rs. per KM of travel within city!

Going to Mumbai this Friday. Will report highway average then.

Had a very good drive - Pune-Mumbai-Pune. There was a lot of waiting time with AC and Engine ON in Mumbai due to heavy traffic. Here are the numbers:

FE Achieved: 18.2 Km/Lt. With 100% A.C.

In Bangalore sometimes yes, I do get 16+ in one out of 4-5 tankfuls. Normal is 15-16. But I regularly got 17+kmpl when I was in Chandigarh due to excellent city driving conditions there.
And highway mileage ranges from 18-22kmpl. Steady 80-100 has given me around 22kmpl quite a number of times, but average is around 20kmpl.

Its very much possible in BLR. For my petrol Swift, It generally gives me 13-14 kmpl with 50% AC on stock tyres.

My Honda City ZX (no VTEC engine) in city gives me an average of 14 kmpl. On highway, I've topped at 19 kmpl but usually its between 16 and 17 kmpl.

The 3G City VTEC that I own does about 11 kmpl in city, and 17 kmpl on highway.

I would have thought people would say the opposite! With BLR traffic its probably more difficult. I have stock tyres as well, AC running is also similar, around 50% of the time and my city FE is usually 15, and i've got as low as 14 at times

A lot depends on the driving style and where you drive in BLR too. If one is driving daily only on Outer Ring Road, he/she gets a better mileage in comparison to somebody who drives daily in core city areas like MG Road etc.

I have a Ritz Petrol and I consistently get 15+ mileage in BLR city with 70% AC.

Yep thats true. I live on race course road and the car does more than half the running around the central areas itself. The rest is on the way to my college, which is on mysore road. In both cases most of the time its in the middle of heavy traffic

Thats a good mileage for your ritz!
