Guys,

My Ford Fiesta 1.6S gives me 8.5-9 kms/l in city driving conditions. Get around 14-15 kms/l on highways. And it has run around 11000 kms till date.

Although wthin city I drive mostly on 1st-2nd gear due to traffic, but that just a 2 km strectch on my way back from office. Otherwise Delhi roads are fun to drive on.

Its quite dissapointing consdering all other sedans of the same class give around 10-12 kms/l in city.

I had spoken to my servce center people and they keep telling me that the mileage would improve over time since this is a new car. I dont know how much further I have to clock on the ODO to get a better mleage.

My Safari 2.2 dicor gives an average of 12.5kmpl on tank to tank refills, worst was 10kmpl whilst in Mumbai, best I think was just over 13kmpl, lots of stop start driving and short distances have not helped, average ac usage has been approx 70%, I wanted to measure my highway drive from Goa to Pune , as I'm sure I would have achieved around 15kmpl, but got caught up with other things and drove to Mumbai where the FE took a big hit, thanks to the bumper to bumper driving.

Regards,

Stefan

Unfortunately, once you've clocked some mileage, they're most likely to tell you that you can't expect good fuel efficiency because it's no longer a new car

Hello friends @ T-bhp, I have been an anonymous beneficiary of the wealth of automotive information this forum has to offer. I finally registered out of desire to participate in these discussions. This is my first post !

I have been following many mileage related threads and have been rather surprised by the figures quoted (14-15 city mileage with AC & stuff). I drive a Santro (bought new, 1.5 yrs old now) daily to work in Chennai and the best I get is around 11.5-12 with 90% AC and plenty of short trips. The worst is around 9.5-10. Ofcourse, there are plenty of rules & variables when it comes to FE and let's say I adhere to atleast 75% of them. Some friends did say Hyundais are guzzlers compared to Maruti and maybe this is what they meant.

Hi,

I also have a Santro Xing which is 3 years old and had done 40,000 kms. It gives me a mileage of 13-14 kmpl within Chennai city and 17-18 on highways. I always drive with AC turned on, and avoid short trips.

The worst it gave me was 10-11 kmpl 6 months back when I actually delayed the service. I informed the service station that the mileage has gone down in the last 2 months, and its back on track now giving me 13-14 kmpl now.

Just did a Delhi - Jaipur highway run. My 2002 Esteem returned 16 kmpl with 80% AC. I maintained constant speed of 100-105 kmph.

I have been using it only for highway drive and at max with two people with 100% AC and it is giving 20kmpl . Even i was surprised by it.Driving was with occasional bursts of upto 150kmph but major part was at 80-90kmph.

19 kmpl is outstanding. Where did you get the rebuild done? Was it at a MASS or an outside engine specialist?

That's very good FE, you really sure it's that much within city with 100% AC.
