BMW has launched a new variant of the 2 Series Gran Coupe. The new M Sport Pro trim slots between the 220i M Sport and 220d M Sport and is priced at Rs 45.50 lakh (ex-showroom).



The 2 Series Gran Coupe M Sport Pro comes with features such as BMW gesture control, heads-up display and a 10-speaker sound system. The car gets M-specific Anthracite roof lining, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, paddle shifters, illuminated Boston trim finishers and M badges.



The M Sport Pro is available with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that makes 177 BHP @ 5,100 rpm and 280 Nm @ 1,350-4,600 rpm. The engine is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.



The car gets three drive modes: ECOPRO, Comfort and Sport. This variant also comes with launch control and a shift-by-wire gear selector.

Will they launch a M Sport Pro Max next with a different set of wheels and blacked out grill?
Something is seriously wrong at BMW India, looking at their recent choice of engines and trims for us. They seem to be focusing a lot on the cosmetic stuff, which is not what people associate with the brand.

This pseudo BMW suddenly looks a lot more appealing than the X1. Someone had the good sense of not using the 1.5 petrol engine here. Thank god for small mercies.

I am looking for a compact diesel car and 2 series is making lot of sense to me. Anyone knows if heads-up display and the 10 speaker music system can be configured in 220d when making a purchase?

I had a similar thought mudhasir and visited the BMW showroom to checkout the 220D last month. Was very disappointed to know the following things:

- The Pro variant is only available in Petrol.
- Over the regular petrol, the Pro adds a heads-up display, 10 speakers, paddle shifters and few other stuff.
- The 220D cannot be configured with even 2 additional speakers like the Pro and we have to live with 8 speakers. So forget about a HUD! However, the 220D comes in only M-sport variant and has paddle shifters by default
- BMW has discontinued all the shades except Black and White for 220D!! . However, Snapper Rocks Blue Metallic is available only in the Petrol variant.

P.S - I was really keen on Misano Blue Metallic and have been informed that this might not happen. Hell, the chances of the 220D getting an AWD or RWD are apparently better!!

I took a test drive a few days ago at the Pune dealership and simply loved the car. Excellent quality materials were used. The ride handling and pick up are awesome. There is a circular joystick in place of the traditional gear knob location that is used to control the infotainment system which I found quite useful.
What we did not like is the pricing of the car. Blown up price of BMW insurance and a ridiculous rs.95000 'vpc' charges which translates to 'vehicle preparation charges'. This basically amounts to handling charges.
