Citroen will launch the C3 Aircross with just one powertrain – a 110hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox – in a fully loaded Max trim that will be offered in both five- and seven-seater configurations.

It makes sense to launch C3 Aircross in only one variant. They dont have too many features that they can cut from the already scarce list of features. Plus, managing the inventory is easier with one variant

I guess the selling point will be its suspension & great looks. I like how both Elevate and C3 Aircross look (hate the new Creta and Seltos is too common now).

Is it now confirmed that it has the C5's PHC suspension? I am one of those who don't care about sunroofs or "ventilated" seats, but an automatic and sorted ride is really important. I might offer this car exclusively to my driver (to overcome the lack of an automatic) but the C5 like suspension will really be an absolute must.

Re: Citroen C3 Aircross : A Close Look

I still feel C3 AirCross will get a good response in the market provided they are priced below similar specced Hyundai, Kia and Maruti by a lakh. Looks wise, this is definitely good; quirky yes but still good. If it can make a statement with that turbo engine and dynamics, the segment will be an interesting one to watch.

Citreon should expand more to tier 2 and tier 3 cities for them to get the volume. They are majorly in tier 1 cities where features list make a telling difference in customer preferences. The solid suspension will have many takers in tier 2 and 3 cities.

Re: Citroen C3 Aircross : A Close Look

I think Citroen doing same mistake it did with C3, missing out on some key features.

One of the biggest issue with my Ignis Zeta was not having Auto Climate control and the 2nd most affecting issue was not having projector headlights.

Surprisingly Citroen c3 Aircross not have them either. Common Citroen! Even Baleno Sigma has Automatic Climate Control and Projectors.

  • Front fog lamps
  • Dual-tone paint shades (optional)
  • Removable third-row seats
  • 10.25-inch touchscreen

  • Steering mounted audio, phone controls
  • Connected car tech
  • Manual AC with heater
  • Roof-mounted rear AC vents (7-seater only)

  • Electrically adjustable wing mirrors
  • Tilt adjustable steering
  • Manual height adjust for driver’s seat
  • Rear defogger, wiper and washer
  • Rear centre arm rest (5-seater only)
  • Dual Airbags
  • ABS, EBD, ESP
  • Hill hold assist
  • Tyre pressure monitoring system
  • Reverse camera and sensors
So, pricing is going to be the deciding factor.
For the segment C3 Aircross is entering, this is like a base version.

With Citroen's small and mostly urban dealer base, who came up with the brilliant idea of launching without an automatic?

The car's reputation will not recover from being a basic option when the >4m class cars like Creta sell on torque/power, features and refinement.

Instead, Citroen could have learnt from their c3 and eC3 mistakes and launched with features to create a buzz and attract buyers. e.g. a top-end model with leather seats, full LED lighting, and optional ADAS.

And they could have branded it a C4 to signal it is upmarket compared to a C3.

Re: Citroen C3 Aircross : A Close Look

I think this is tech demonstrator for them. :-) The bonuses of bosses here are tied to selling tech demonstrators in two digit numbers every month for the next two years.
What else can explain this early 2000 philosophy of limited features, limited power car? Sales is not the target, showing the deprived masses of what they are capable of is the target. Why not have a C5 compete with Creta and Seltos. A similar mystery that leaders of Ford, GM took with them and now Honda's India leaders want to do the same.

A lot also depends on driver skill. That said, dont expect sub 10s timings. What is more important is how is the in gear acceleration. I may not need to or have an empty road to blast off from a standstill, but I sure may need to pass that truck at 70 kph in as quick and safe a manner as possible. That is where the effortless power is needed. To put it in perspective, can I do it in my fully loaded 115bhp Creta diesel? Yes, without much tension. But effortless? Not so.

Seems good enough considering the supposedly more costlier Elevate takes about 15 secs in S mode.
