Volkswagen's Tayron, the 7 seat SUV in leaked images:

Details contained in the Chinese government filing put the new Tayron’s length, width and height at 4735mm, 1859mm and 1682mm respectively. This makes it 197mm longer, 17mm wider and 43mm higher than the new Tiguan.

The Tayron also receives a wheelbase that's 111mm longer than the third-generation Tiguan, at 2791mm. Kerb weight is put at 1790kg.

Chinese-market models are set to be powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine developing 184bhp in entry-level form and 217bhp in a higher specification.

European models will also offer a petrol-electric plug-in hybrid option similar to that set to be made available in the Tiguan.

It's likely to be sold in the UK with the choice of either a 2.0-litre turbo petrol or a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine, both with 48V electrification and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox as standard.

Arriving in 2025, the Tayron will be positioned beneath the recently facelifted Volkswagen Touareg.

Utterly dislike the looks of this car. Was looking forward to some freshness of design in the next generation Tiguan. The previous generation one was a real looker when it arrived, with its cleanliness of design , bold stance and an overall sculpted look. For rhe facelift, VW actually diluted the purity of the design with curvy shaped headlamps.

The Tyron here seems to take car back a generation instead of forward. There are very few interesting elements and this car looks very bland overall. The headlamp shape is really odd and doesn't gel with the clean design philosophy of Volkswagen cars. The side is all straight lines while the front has many curvy shaped elements, which makes he design look incoherent. For me, it actually screams Chinese in a hoarser tone than even MG does! The rear looks like an overdone Korean car with those big thick LED bars all over. The car looks like a dwarf considering its SUV peers such as the current generation Kodiaq, the Tucson or even the XUV 700. There is absolutely no character in the design and looks like a mashup of random elements which individually enjoy mass popularity.

The second generation of the Tiguan Allspace has been surprised in some interesting spy photos with not one, but two prototypes that have already begun with their fine-tuning ahead of its launch in 2025. The German firm will not give up on offering a seven-seater option in its successful SUV.

The new Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace will debut in 2025, about a year after the five-seater model to let it settle on the market, and with which it will share both the interior design and the advanced equipment and the range of mechanics. Its petrol engines will be electrified with a 48V system, it will also have diesel options and, of course, PHEV versions with the "eHybrid" surname and up to 100 kilometres of range are expected to arrive.

Tayron wow, I almost read it as Tyrion (GoT). Going by naming convention by VW, they might introduce Tywin, Tyrell, Tarly models as well.

One at the beginning of this post has slim grill (almost like Virtus) but the last one in the video has different grill, similar to the grill on the current Tiguan. Looks like there are other differences to. Are these meant for different markets?

Look closely. You will observe that the car in the video has camouflaged front end. Its grill and headlight is covered by dummy front end. Most likely the Tayron will look like the latest generation Tiguan, as seen in Post#16 of this thread.

I am not sure if it due to camouflaging. Even the tail lamps or the quarter windows are totally different.

The taillights are camouflaged inside the covering (which looks like VW Golf taillights, but if you look closely you will observe it does not reflect), and the rear quarter window size and shape looks same, with same distance from C-pillar. So most likely the test car is camouflaged.

Not sure if this is due to the photo, looks big and little minivan-ish. Looks good in white though. What is the comparison with Kodiaq size wise even if based on different platforms ?

The front design language looks inspired by the ID series. Back looks like the present Taigun. The last generation had better design elements than this one.

I find the European (2-row) version of the new Tiguan much more elegant and uncluttered. I hope this one is offered in India rather than the US/China version above which looks to be a busy design that will age rapidly and look dated in a few years.

According to a recent post on the Tiguan Facelift thread, there is speculation that the European Tiguan may actually make it to India. I hope that happens! If we get only the 7 seat Tyron from China, I any day to go for the new Kodiaq instead, which looks better than the Tyron (though not as classic and timeless as the current Kodiaq)

More info of the Tayron L, unveiled in China.

- The new car is based on the MQB evo platform, with a wheelbase of 2791mm (60mm lengthened) and a 1.5T and 2.0T engines.

- The VW Tayron L, revealed on China’s MIIT, effectively previews the US-spec Tiguan.

- It has been confirmed that the North American 2025 VW Tiguan will debut later this year.

- In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the car are 4684 (4695) / 1854 (1866) / 1685 (1684) mm, and the wheelbase is 2791mm, which is 60mm longer than the wheelbase of the current model. The tires will be available in 235/55 R18 and 235/50 R19 sizes.

- In terms of power, the car will be equipped with 1.5T and 2.0T power. The 1.5T DSV engine has a maximum output of 118kW and the 2.0T DTJ engine has a maximum output of 162kW.

The other model is equipped with the R-Line package, which is the same overall style as the overseas Tiguan R-Line package version, with a large black mesh grille and larger bilateral air intakes.
The car has a two-tone body design, with a black roof and white bodywork to highlight the sporty attributes, and the multi-spoke all-black wheels are also very individual. The rear of the car is designed to echo the front fascia, including a continuous light cluster and a rear bumper with mesh sporty trim. In addition, the text logo on the body is black.
