The Lexus LM is a luxury minivan featuring sliding rear doors for better ingress and egress. The new-generation LM is based on a revised platform that is said to be 50% more rigid than its predecessor. It is equipped with the brand's 'AVS Suspension with Frequency-Sensitive Piston Valve' that is claimed to offer a smoother ride and reduce vibrations.

It features a 48-inch widescreen display that separates the driver's cabin from the rear compartment, a refrigerator, and an advanced air-conditioning system that detects the temperature of a passenger's face, chest, thighs and lower legs.

As mentioned, this is essentially a Velfire with Lexus design cues and quality upgrades. I think this should find lot of takers as this is less ugly and more competent by all means.

The crowd who spends more than a Crore for Velfire won't mind the extra cost. They are likely to be happy to have the option of he higher esteem value that comes with the higher price. Most of the film stars and businessmen whom I have seen having a Velfire are owning it only because there is no higher priced and better looking option with what the vehicle offers.

Are those 4 cyl engines adequate for such a big vehicle? And I don't think it will be priced below 2 crores.

Essentially a less ugly version of the Velfire. But will they be able to price it anywhere below 1.5 crores considering the additional premium associated with the L badge.

Few detailed pics of the LM;

There will be hybrid powertrain to assist. And this would be an AWD as well.

The Lexus LM made its global debut in April this year. Now, the carmaker is gearing up to launch it in the Indian market. A teaser has just been released, suggesting that its launch could be just around the corner.

The Lexus LM shares its underpinnings with the Toyota Vellfire and is based on the TNGA-K platform which is said to be 50% more rigid than its predecessor.

Globally, the Lexus LM is available with two 4-cylinder hybrid powertrains. These include 2.4-litre and 2.5-litre engines paired with hybrid systems. Toyota currently offers the latter in the Vellfire sold in India.

Expected this after Toyota enjoyed some success with the Vellfire. The Vellfire had crazy demand in some cities, like in Hyderabad I saw more Vellfires than Fortuners..
Lexus would surely like to capitalize on it and target buyers who want an even more premium experience.
I expect pricing close to 2 cr.

The front grill seems like the gaping mouth of a huge prehistoric fish. But it's probably better looking than the terrifying Predator-mouth grill of the Vellfire.

Lost opportunity to make it look like a luxury van. This may be more kitted but it makes the Vellfire look pretty! But boy that interior makes me want to get rich!!

Lexus India has announced that bookings for the new LM have crossed the triple-digit mark since they opened in August this year.

Bad move. I can see that they're taking on the S580 Maybach with this pricing. Instead:

1. Lexus should've been bolder and taken on the S680 by bringing in the more powerful turbocharged engine through the 500h trim.

2. That would've given Toyota the room to upgrade the power figures of Vellfire to match the 350h specs.

The LM has the road presence (which is a really important factor in India), and Lexus has enough brand image to pull it off. What's more, the minivan body is easier on the elderly than the Maybach - who I wager would be the primary buyers

Toyota seems be to able to sell more Vellfires than what they can produce - with waiting periods extending to 14 months by some accounts. So, the headroom is there.

Man, this looks straight out of Mad Max. There is no more place to extend the grill on the face of that thing.

Wow it is so crazy expensive up there in India! Here in Aus, the drive away price for the LM500h ultra luxury (4 seater) is roughly Rs. 1.3Cr and Rs. 95.7L for the LM300h (7 seater) variant.

I hope Lexus as a brand in India grows and soon be the synonym for 'reliable luxury', which it truly deserves.
