Re: Are you driving a fuel sipper? Share your miser's fuel efficiency numbers here

Taking MID values only.

My Figo 1.5 TDCI returns 16kmpl in the city on regular Diesel, 17.2-17.5 on IndianOil XtraGreen (B7 Blend).

When on the highway, the highest I have seen is 30kmpl on a rainy August morning drive from Nashik to Dhule on the Mumbai Agra highway. The efficiency dropped as the temperatures rose but it still remained a solid 26.5 kmpl all the way till Maheshwar in Madhya Pradesh. This was with 3.5 passengers and a full load of luggage and Automatic Climate control set at 22-23°C.

On an average, if I stick to the speed limit on the highways, I can usually manage around 22kmpl. More if the weather is cooler and traffic is sparse. This is on regular Diesel. Not done a Highway drive with XtraGreen so no idea about that.

Re: Are you driving a fuel sipper? Share your miser's fuel efficiency numbers here

I don't drive one anymore. But when I did, my Punto 1.3 MJD had almost never dipped below 14kmpl even in Bangalore traffic. On Highways, I have got the best of 25kmpl and routinely around 19 kmpl. All tank full method.

The MID range would at times show 1300 kms on a full tank of diesel (when driven at about 80 to 90kmph) and routinely beyond 1000 kms on highway drives (when driven at about 100 kmph to 110 kmph).

Re: Are you driving a fuel sipper? Share your miser's fuel efficiency numbers here

I may have posted in the earlier thread regarding my Creta, but just to update that into its third year and 23500km+ later, the car is still as good as it could ever be on the fuel efficiency front. So urban cycle driving in moderate traffic gives anything between 15-17 kmpl and highway driving at steady 80-90 kph gives 21-22 kmpl on flat terrain.
My new Tiago also shows some decent promise, urban driving cycle is currently showing 13-14 kmpl after it's second service and highway speed (80 kph) mileage is between 21-23 kmpl. However I must say that I havent driven much on the highways to truly attest this figure, and even there it is quite sensitive to any disruptions in steady speed.
All in all, I am quite satisfied on the fuel efficiency front, especially the Creta whose 1.5 CRDI engine is still as creamy smooth as ever.

Re: Are you driving a fuel sipper? Share your miser's fuel efficiency numbers here

My 2017 Tata Tigor XT diesel is indeed a sipper. At an average I get 15-17 kmpl in city (Mumbai) and 22-24 kmpl on highway. When diriven sedately i.e. between 80-90 kmph it has even returned 26 kmpl on highways.
After 81k+ km and 5+ years of usage, I can say the Tigor diesel is an efficient and good motor.

My 10 year old Wagon R Stingray with aftermarket CNG conversion that I use for college commutes (100km up down).

It gives 32-33km/kg on empty roads in the morning and 26-28km/kg in moderate to heavy traffic. (Measured by tank full method).

Re: Are you driving a fuel sipper? Share your miser's fuel efficiency numbers here

Actually I'm on a heavy daily sprint doing 300km per day, My 2017 Honda Civic 1.6 is doing extremely well, fun as well as efficient.

Average speed 100kmph, 3hrs for 300km. This 1.6 CVT combo is a real surprising package.

Recent full tank stats are as below :

Distance covered : 611 KM.
Fuel filled on full tank : 31.5L.
Speed : 120KMPH cruise 50% , 100KMPH cruise 50%.( 100% high way run)
AC : 60% usage at 22.5 degrees.

Overall I'm quite surprised by the figures at good cruising speeds, earlier it used to deliver around 14-15kmpl in city roads within speed limits of 90KMPH, now it jumped to 18-20 consistently, mostly I drive below 2000rpm. Good job HONDA.

Re: Are you driving a fuel sipper? Share your miser's fuel efficiency numbers here

My 2018 Honda City CVT with 50k KM under the belt, gives a 16 Km/l for long drives with AC.

With AC off, night drives with Cruise Control on 80Kmph 70% & rest 30% with 90-100Kmph on and off, I see figures like 19.3Km/l on an avg.

Kochi Trivandrum road is patchy due to NHAI work and gets lots of traffic in the middle. So can't be on cruise for long stretches.

Re: Are you driving a fuel sipper? Share your miser's fuel efficiency numbers here

I drive two cars, 2017 model Verna 1.6L Diesel MT SX (O) BS4 and 2021 model Kia Seltos 1.5L diesel AT GTX BS6.
Verna has done 86000+ km and has returned a life time mileage of 19.8km/L.
Seltos has clocked 21000+ km and has a mileage of 14.6km/L.
Both are run with AC on all the time. Running is 60% highway and 40% city.
Highway speeds are 110-120kmph wherever possible.

Re: Are you driving a fuel sipper? Share your miser's fuel efficiency numbers here

My Honda CRV diesel. What a machine. Its given me a consistent average of above 16 kmpl over 75k kms. What trumps the figure is a period where I had to drive at 75kmph on an expressway. The FE figure was mind blowing over the entire journey with a full load of passengers and light luggage.

Re: Are you driving a fuel sipper? Share your miser's fuel efficiency numbers here

Our 2017 Tiago XZA gives around 14 kmpl in the city. Mind you, this isn't bumper to bumper traffic like in the metros, but it's still pretty crowded here during office hours.

On the highway the car easily gives 21-22 kmpl.
All of these figures are with AC on 100% of the time.

Overall, we're pretty satisfied with the fuel economy of the Tiago considering the fact that it's a pretty heavy car. The engine could've been a bit smoother though.

My 4yrs old SCross 1.3MJD delivers 14-16kmpl within city and 22+ on highways. I’m not exactly a light footed driver. Highest fuel efficiency has been a shade over 25kmpl.

The mileage managed by my 320 limo diesel is also pretty phenomenal, The below was achieved over its first highway drive though it did entail a lot of expressway driving in-between too.

Re: Are you driving a fuel sipper? Share your miser's fuel efficiency numbers here

I drive 2013 Ritz vdi. I bought it after humble Alto LXI as my yearly running was upwards of 18k. The thought process then was, if I buy a diesel and use it for 10 years I can break even the extra cost I am paying and I will be able to use a better car too. All that thinking was absolutely correct as my odometer reading last week was 111222 after 9.5 years. Regarding mileage, even with worst traffic, my car with AC on always returns healthy 15 in City and 24 -25 on Highways. What more can I expect?

My 10 year old Hyundai Eon has a city mileage of 15+ and with 70-80 cruising speed, I've got 26+ on highway (tankful to tankful)
