There is loads of things Kia has bought vs 1.4 Creta. Just few bits at the top of my head, I am sure there could be more-

1) One touch up down for all windows
2) All illuminated power window switches
3) HUD
4) Fantastic 10.25 inch display
5) A 20 PS and 3 NM increase
6) Dual Zone AC
7) ADAS Level 2
8) Much Modern interior (X Line)
9) Blind Spot monitor in Instrument cluster (Camera feed)
10) Auto wipers
11) 360 Degree Camera
12) Most important- A likeable design
13) Speed limiter function
14) LED Sound mood lamps along with ambient lighting

IMO for a mere 1.6L, these additions are worth it.

My SA of Automotive KIA Nagole, Hyderabad shared Ex-Showroom Price list of Old and New Seltos. Interestingly GTX + AT Diesel Dual Tone and X Line AT Diesel cost the same.

Good pricing IMHO , especially for the top-ends for what they offer now!

Very marginal difference in Petrol Turbo DCT variants namely HTX+, GTX+ and X-line. Is this true ?

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift, bookings now open. EDIT: Kia Launched at Rs. 10.90 lakh

This is an off-topic question, but the pricing makes me ask this. The GTX+ petrol automatic and diesel automatic are at the same price with the same set of features. So, can someone explain me why would someone let go of the mileage benefits and choose the petrol version? What factor could be compelling to do this barring the government restrictions on futuristic diesels part?

I am no expert but the 160bhp on the petrol might be a factor

Absolutely right. I am now wondering after booking the GTX+ petrol.
Considering the fact that the Diesel engine is already running and proven from few years. On the contrary the 1.5 Turbo which has started its duties with New Verna very recently and we dont know the long term reliability under Indian conditions of fuel.

Also the DCT is much complicated and prone for failures compared to the Torque converter.. If you are some one who keeps the car for 10 plus years may be then govt policies towards diesel can be worrisome especially in metros..
(I also observed Dual Exhaust is not there in GTX+ diesel )

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift, bookings now open. EDIT: Kia Launched at Rs. 10.90 lakh

The Turbo-Petrol version comes with 160 bhp of power and 253 nm of torque, has dual exhausts, and is performance-oriented, unlike the 1.5 Diesel which puts out 114hp and 250nm of torque. The 1.5 Diesel is an engine that has been used in every car from the i20, Venue, and Sonet to the Elantra, the new 1.5L turbo petrol is exclusive to the Seltos, Carens, Verna and Alcazar for now and will come to the Facelift Creta next.

With the Petrol being the newer engine and the popularity of diesel decreasing day by day, Kia played it smartly here pricing both at par, so the mileage conscious can get the diesel at the same price as the turbo petrol and be happy while the others can get the most powerful turbo petrol in the sub 4.5 metre SUV category for the same price.

Note: Kia did the same thing when they launched the Sonet back in 2020, with prices of the 1.0L Turbo DCT and 1.5 Diesel AT priced at par, but now the diesel is almost 1 lakh more expensive ex-showroom.

I'm curious about the price drop for HTE, HTK, and HTK+ Diesel IMT variants. Had Kia messed up their pricing post BS6.2 update or is it just introductory pricing to be followed by price hikes/corrections 2-3 months later.

Creta is not available in the Petrol-turbo guise anymore. It’s only the Seltos for now, until the facelifted Creta comes with the 1.5 L turbo-petrol. And that’s exactly what Kia wants to do here - cash in as much as possible before the FL Creta takes the cake !

1. Low annual running - If the running is low, Petrol makes sense.
2. Fun to drive quotient will be a tad better in the turbo-petrol; given that it already was, it should further improve with improved power figures.
3. DPF worries - With the latest complex Diesel systems , it ain’t suitable for someone who has limited highway runs. Petrol is much preffered.
4. NCR rule - A turbo-petrol is no-brainer.

There might be some more, but these IMO could be the top-most reasons to possibly choose a Petrol over the Diesel.

I believe the turbo petrol DCTs are priced correctly barring the negligible difference in price between the variants. This is just the introductory pricing and it will go up during Diwali festival season. GTX+ seems the most VFM among the higher models and HTK+ will take the crown for being VFM variant overall.

It has been the same situation with earlier Seltos and also Creta. I also briefly considered going for Diesel but then couple of factors came in the way

1. Foremost is the concern about future of diesel cars. Don't want to be stuck in a situation like NGT ban or lower resale demand. I like my hard earned money very much

2. My running is low and mostly in traffic situation within city. BS6 diesel engines are prone to DPF issue for such kind of usage. Don't want to live with this worry on my head.

Eventually the pain vs gain is not worth for me so decided to stick with Petrol. In fact, I went with IVT model to avoid DCT related issues.

Peace of mind over thrill of drive! I'm getting old

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift, bookings now open. EDIT: Kia Launched at Rs. 10.90 lakh

The HTK+ iMT Turbo Petrol seems to be the most VFM variant. It would have been my pick if ISOFIX was also provided.
Since ISOFIX is a must for me, i am looking at HTX+ imt or GTX+ DCT (HTX+ DCT doesn't make any sense at all).

On the point of ISOFIX, can anyone enlighten me on, how beneficial this is ? Are the traditional car-seats fixed via seatbelts equally safe ? This is the main point making me consider the higher variants, and if not i stand to save around 5 to 6 lakhs.

Re: 2023 Kia Seltos Facelift, bookings now open. EDIT: Kia Launched at Rs. 10.90 lakh

Wow ! So Turbo Petrol and Diesel GTX+ command same pricing

For mainly short city runs, is there a particular engine recommended? I have booked Turbo Petrol since it is mainly for my wife and have heard from my friends that Diesel is on heavier side. Yes, mileage will take a hit but with limited run expected per year, I am fine to live with same considering getting a powerful petrol engine. I just wished Kia offered paid extended warranty for atleast 7 years.

I am tempted for X-Line (more for interiors it provides) but maintaining the matte will take benefits of better interior combination quickly.

I would highly recommend you to stay away from the Kia diesels if your runs are primarly in the city, because of the DPF issues(its bad) plus adblue refill headache, not to mention the fear of a Diesel ban.
These 3, in that order, should ideally rule out the diesels for anyone who doesn't have much running.

Prices and features get a big thumbs up. NCAP ratings is a big???? More exterior colour for the X line would have given the customer a better option. X Line in just matte finish restricts the choice just by virtue of colour
