Re: Are you driving a fuel guzzler? Share your guzzler's FE numbers here

Tata Safari Storme 4x4 (2014)

I probably get around 7 kmpl in the city. My daily drive to and from office is a total of 20 kms. For about 2 kms of those each way, the engine runs cold. Also, there are multiple traffic choke points spaced at about 3 kms throughout the route.

On the highway, this 2500 kg freight train daintly sips a litre of it's favourite drink (diesel) over 12 kms on average.

Ford Fiesta 1.6 (Petrol)

City mileage 6-8kmpl and highway mileage 10kmpl.
In bumper to bumper traffic, mileage can be as low as 5 kmpl.

I drive a Hector CVT. It is indeed a fuel guzzler. Combined with Delhi Even with a light foot it gives a maximum of 8KMPL (Tankful Method).

I was wondering if anyone had mentioned the Taigun 1.0L.

Mine is a Topline AT.

I have seen 9-10kmpl in Chennai city traffic conditions consistently and that too when driven with a light foot.

On the highway, have seen numbers vary (based on speed and traffic) from 12Kmpl to 20.5Kmpl. These are MID numbers with 2 to 5 people+luggage and pretty much with AC ON all the time.

Actual tank full to tank full varies between 8Kmpl to a max of 16.1Kmpl, over the car's lifetime.

10,100 Kms on the Odo, 60% of it is in city traffic. My overall average mileage stands at 10.92 Kmpl.

Re: Are you driving a fuel guzzler? Share your guzzler's FE numbers here

My daily driver is a MY18 Polo GT TSI, and I've been averaging about 8-8.5 km/l, thanks to the horrendous traffic on ECR/OMR that I endure daily. Boy, does it guzzle petrol when at crawling speed with the AC on.

I don't drive with a heavy foot, but when I do, the Polo surprises me with its efficiency- I'm assuming this probably has to do with the sustained higher overall speed compared to stop-and-go traffic.

Q5 2.0 TDI. Gave me 8.0-8.5 in the city. Increased to 15 on the highway. On the other hand, the replacement, my XUV 700 P AT gives 11 (90% highway run). I had a Verna 1.6 4 speed TC, gave a horrendous 7.5 in the city.

Grand I10 Nios 2022. It has a drinking problem and needs to visit the therapist soon. It gives me an average FE of about 8.4 to 10, atleast that is what the MID claims. Never Bothered to calculate it as our usage is less and FE doesn't matter a lot in such cases.

Hah, i win this one hands down.

- S600 - V12TT - 4 kmpl if im lucky in traffic and 8 on the highway
- GLE63S with the P30 Performance Pack 6-7 in the city and 10 on the highway.
- S500 this one is very fuel efficient since it's more recent than the V12 and at 7-8 city and 12 highway, it's practically a hybrid.

2015 landcruiser with the petrol V8.

Drove multiple times from Saudi to Qatar and to Dubai and back. It would stay in eco-mode as long as it was below 130kmph. Drove it for about 650km with the cruise control set to 120kmph and in eco mode. Gave a grand total of about 7kmpl. Would drop to 4ish in normal driving.

Re: Are you driving a fuel guzzler? Share your guzzler's FE numbers here

So the petrol ATs here are the real guzzler here no matter how small the engine displacement is. Turbo charging or shrinking the engine to 3 cylinders isn't helping at all. My 2.2L AT, ~2.5 ton SUV does better numbers even inside the city than those 1 ton hatchbacks. Its high time brands consider the Hybrid/Electric hatchbacks for local duties.

My Interceptor sips at the rate of 20km/liter for short city rides, RC390 does 22km/l. Surprisingly at highway speeds, INT650 is as frugal as the KTM.

My Lexus LS460 Long wheel base gets 4KM/L in the city and 8KM/L on highways.

I've seen 9.3KM/L on a good day, but that requires me to drive like a saint.

Re: Are you driving a fuel guzzler? Share your guzzler's FE numbers here

My W204 runs 6km for a liter in the city. However, the car itself runs very less (maybe 5000km/y) since I'm not based in Kolkata - therefore it doesn't pinch. I'm planning a 4500km trip though next month!

A few years back I owned another guzzler - the Fiat Linea petrol. It managed 8-10 in Mumbai.

For some inexplicable reason I'm very carefree about spending on petrol. Whereas I'd deliberate over most spends/ investments, petrol is the one thing I don't think about. Never maintained a logbook, and definitely don't mind owning a guzzler.

Re: Are you driving a fuel guzzler? Share your guzzler's FE numbers here

i10 TC AT

This little machine with 4 speed TC AT gives me around 8-9 kmpl in city. The most I've seen on this car is around 13 kmpl on highways (having an extremely light right foot)

Many a times, i think of buying an EV for city runs. Thinking about the cost i have to incur for a new car, i feel this is the best option i have. Made peace with this guzzler
