Tata Motors has launched its first registered vehicle scrapping facility under the Re.Wi.Re brand in Jaipur.



The first Re.Wi.Re was inaugurated by Mr Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways. The facility has been developed and operated by Tata Motors’ partner Ganganagar Vaahan Udyog Pvt Ltd. It has a capacity of 15,000 vehicles per annum.



The Re.Wi.Re. facility is designed to dismantle end-of-life passenger and commercial vehicles of all brands. It is fully digitalised for hassle-free, paperless operations and has dedicated stations for the safe dismantling of components such as tyres, batteries, fuel, oils, liquids and gases.

According to Tata, the vehicles go through stringent documentation and dismantling process, curated individually for passenger and commercial vehicle requirements.

Tata Motors inaugurates its second registered vehicle scrapping facility.

Tata Motors, India’s leading automobile manufacturer, continues its commitment to sustainable mobility with the launch of its second Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Named ‘Re.Wi.Re – Recycle with Respect’, this advanced facility was inaugurated by Smt Tukuni Sahu, Hon’ble Minister of Water Resources, Commerce & Transport, Government of Odisha. The event was graced by delegates from the Odisha Government and Tata Motors. The state-of-the-art facility uses environmentally friendly processes and has the capacity to disassemble 10,000 end-of-life vehicles safely and sustainably each year. The RVSF is developed and operated by Tata Motors’ partner Empreo Premium to scrap end-of-life passenger and commercial vehicles of all brands. This launch follows the success of the first facility in Jaipur, Rajasthan, and marks another significant milestone for the company’s sustainable initiatives.

Speaking at the launch of Tata Motors’ Re.Wi.Re RVSF in Odisha,Smt Tukuni Sahu, Hon’ble Minister of Water Resources, Commerce & Transport, Government of Odisha,said, "Today marks a significant milestone in our efforts towards sustainable development in Odisha. With the inauguration of this new scrappage facility, we take a crucial step towards reducing the environmental impact of our transportation sector. Tata's third scrapping plant at Surat, Gujarat, gets commissioned after the ones at Jaipur and Bhubhaneswar. It's called RE.Wi.Re. decoded as Recycle With Respect. "Wi" usually denotes Wi-fi these days, but it's "With" here. They have partnered with Sree Ambica Auto.

"The fully digitised facility is equipped with dedicated cell-type and line-type dismantling with dedicated stations for the safe dismantling of various components, including tyres, batteries, fuel, oils, liquids and gases", the media handout says.

Thankfully, it has an annual capacity of 15,000 units per annum. That should mean, inclusive of everything from two wheelers to CV's. Had the installed capacity been unrealistic and it's target not met, the lurking fear would have been that the automakers could lobby with the government to make further stringent scrapping policies. And this would manifest into more unpopular decisions, that would have further affected the common man and enthusiasts alike. There's a simple thumb rule to follow, "scrapping plants can't remain undernourished."
