Tata Safari in that Cosmic Gold paint scheme and 19" alloys is one of the Best if not THE BEST looking launch in recent times in my opinion. Looks absolutely droolworthy!

Nephew was waiting for this launch. He is very critical of the interiors - both black and white. Black makes the interior look small. And white is not manageable - this is not a luxury car.

Two observations:

1. The left knee problem seems visually addressed. However extent of it can be verified only when we sit in the cabin in person.

2. What's with TaMo's obsession with usage of piano black gloss plastic in the cabin? The auto hold button area is already scratched and same goes for AC controls touch panel.

Glad that EPS has been confirmed, also has rear radar functionality.
Interesting thing mentioned in presentation, Lateral Assist features will be made available to all cars in due course of time.
Hope that means lane keep Assist feature and things like auto-pilot tech are going to be available through software update in near future.
That being said, hope the wait is not 6 months or a year.
My wife is upset as they dont have old safari's adventure persona which had nice blue and black combo. Now price needs to be right for me commit to this beast.

Forget regular usage, even the display vehicle featured here has quite a few scratches on its piano black panel.

While the event itself looks smashing, what's the whole point of they don't reveal the Pricing but are content to visually present the Brochure to us?

Re: 2023 Tata Harrier & Safari bookings open; now with ADAS

Is it just me or does anyone else find this naming convention that tata is adopting absurd?

Variant names should be self explanatory for example earlier Harrier had XE, XM, XT and XZ followed by 'A' for automatic, '+' and 'O' for optional features. This was self explanatory with 'E' being the base variant and as you go up till 'Z' the alphabets change accordingly.

Even if I were to ignore the naming convention the way they have laid out all the combinations it will end up confusing the buyer and nothing else I guess.

What am I supposed to understand with Pure, Fearless and creative and what not? Add to that N number of other combination which would inspire CBSE to add Tata's variant list in Permutations and Combinations syllabus for the boards examination.

A friend was shortlisting Nexon recently and we spent good 10-15 minutes trying to decipher and understand which is a better variant to buy.

One other observation:
The misaligned central panel on the steering with respect to the left and right side buttons seen on the just launched Nexon seems to have been fixed. This was one area that was picked upon by most reviewers. Maybe it was the case with media drive vehicles alone and not production units

Many of the interior and exterior design elements are now in common with the updated Nexon. Looks more shredded and European when compared to the older generation.

Re: 2023 Tata Harrier & Safari bookings open; now with ADAS

The flak Tata receives, when it comes to the quality of after sales service, especially when they are introducing so much of electronics - I think it has something to do with the quality of hiring of technicians at the dealerships. I am pretty sure Mahindra too, does not do so much better, but from the posts i have seen on the forum, they have proactive tech support teams in place from company's side who can guide the techs at dealership. It's sad to see that apparently Tata is not learning from or benchmarking competition on this front.

Point is, dealerships will always try to hire the cheapest labour out there, because most of the dealership owners tend to look at them as nothing but 'mazdoor's who do physical labour with some basic technical understanding. It's up to the OEMs to intervene and either train or directly appoint (on company's payroll, no less) tech support skilled in handling electronic systems at the dealerships.

Anyways, I hope as advanced electronic systems become more and more commonplace, even in budget vehicles, and as the vehicle platforms also mature, the overall skillset of the industry should improve over the next few years (this is purely guesswork, though).

My Harrier used to give me ~10kmpl in the city but on the highways, it used to give me 18-20kmpl. If I floored the pedal, then it used to be 15-16kmpl.

Media drive starting today.

I am not a big fan of glowing unibrows, but it appears this where the design trend is heading.

Tata is building great cars, but they need an overhaul of their service network and dealer space. You can't have dealers running a service center in a makeshift shed when they are selling close to 50,000 vehicles/month, and the sales office in a cramped 60*40 building (example: KHT and Prerna Motors in Bangalore).

Toyota has to be the benchmark for all automotive companies when it comes to setting up stringent requirements for quality certifications from the dealer, floor space, mandatory technical staff training, a strict feedback loop when mistakes happen, and their unwavering commitment not to divulge from the core principals and mandates when giving the new dealership. I would say it is one of the toughest to get and also one of the most rewarding franchises.
