Audi delivered 1,950 units between January to March 2023. In comparison, only 862 units were sold during the same period last year. The brand's pre-owned car vertical Audi Approved Plus, also recorded a 50% growth.

According to the company, SUVs contributed to 60% of the total sales in Q1 2023. Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India, stated that the recently launched Q3 and Q3 Sportback have seen strong demand. Models like the Q7, Q8 and A8L have also been received well by the market.

Audi India's current product portfolio includes sedans like the A4, A6 and A8L. The carmaker also offers a wide range of SUVs starting with Q3, Q5 and all the way to the Q7 and Q8, while the performance line-up consists of the S5 Sportback, RS5 Sportback and the RS Q8.

Audi's electric vehicle range includes the e-tron 50, e-tron 55, e-tron Sportback 55, e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT.

Great to see this, though I am not an Audi fan per se, but its always good to have competition , they are averaging 650 cars a month, by these numbers, that too with only Petrol Engines, a relatively old Q5, wish this forces BMW to pull up their socks, and get their bread and butters back, the regular 3 and a better specced X1 especially the petrol, and get the niche G30's (30d, M5), they brought the people to showrooms, even if they bought a lower priced car, even otherwise I don't understand when they are assembling the B48 30i engine here and the X3 M40i is an import, how does it hurt to give all 3 engine options 20d,30i and M40i, all money comes home to them, even if the sales of 2,3,3GL,5 overlap.

And yes if BMW is listening, why not import G30LCI 540i before we are forced with G68 LWB next year, many including me have our chequebooks ready for this.We see way too many E53s in Delhi NCR now to justify a case, they can even manufacture it here before the G68 in the extra kits.

With no homologation and for upto 2500 cars import laws, I believe they should have their whole line up of niche CBU cars here

Re: Mercedes, BMW, Audi & other luxury brand sales in 2023

Audi was offering great deals in March specially for BS6 P1 models. This seems to be the key reason for good sales in last quarter.

Also looking at price of 3 series and C class which now retails at around 67 on road in Gurgaon. Audi A4 technology variant at 57 on road after discounts looks like a great deal.

Audi need to also upgrade on the technology if they wish to gain momentum. Q3 which is just launched is most powerful car in its segment but it lacks technology like ADAS, ventilated seats.

BMW has become too greedy of late (case in point: the new X1; launched around January 30th, 2023) and the results are out for everyone to see.

The corresponding sales in the same month of the previous year has been given in brackets.

January 2023
Mercedes Benz: 1248 (1033) : +20%
BMW: 890 (915) : -3%

February 2023
Mercedes Benz: 1043 (1038) : + 0.5%
BMW: 610 (761) : - 20%

March 2023
Mercedes Benz: 1603 (1340) : +20%
BMW: 838 (1034) : -20%

The fact that the BMW has suffered a YoY decline of 20% for two consecutive months immediately upon launching their new bread-n-butter product, the new X1 speaks volumes of the level of sales disaster the new X1 is (i.e, leave alone any growth, the new X1 is not even able to maintain the same monthly sales as the outgoing model).
In April, Mercedes sold 1149 cars in India against 866 by BMW. (Source: Rushlane )

The MoM gap has come down but the YoY gap has increased between Mercedes and BMW. Mercedes is consolidating it's lead over BMW now.

Did not expect Audi to be performing worse than JLR now.

CBU Units only, literally says it there.

Doesn't include the CKD and locally assembled variants.

Re: Mercedes, BMW, Audi & other luxury brand sales in 2023

Why are Audi's numbers regularly low? Is it only CBU cars total or all cars? I mean A4, A6, Q3 and Q5 should definitely have buyers comparable to corresponding BMW and Benz cars. Such a huge gap and Audi below even JLR and Volvo is unfathomable.

I think Audi is by choice only disclosing CBU number rather than the total sales from quite a number of months for reasons best known to them only. Their sales with the network and models they have must be more than JLR.

Re: Mercedes, BMW, Audi & other luxury brand sales in 2023

I feel like Mercedes’ insane pricing is finally starting to hurt them — GLC for 85 lacs OTR is just absurd no matter how you look at it!

Expecting BMW, and specially Audi’s sales to skyrocket in the coming years. The three pointed star has something thinking to do, and brand value can only take it so far.
