Re: Tata Nexon EV Max Review

Hi Team

We are planning to buy a EV and have narrowed it down to Nexon. However, someone said that its performance (especially FE) varies considerably in extreme temperatures of Delhi (i.e. in a range of 05-40+ degrees over the year). And maybe Astor could be an alterative as they do not have significant temperature related variance

Two questions:
1) Has anyone done a relative analysis of the two vehicles performance in a city like Delhi?

2) Any other EV that one may suggest which is able to circumvent the temperature extremities?

Thanks

Two interior color options, purple interiors for Purple shade and black / grey interior for all other shades. The other shades will have a small purple piece on the steering, that's the only reference. Someone had pasted a reference a couple of pages back.

Thanks for sharing. May I know how you went about selling the car and what was your experience with buyers? If you can elaborate.

Secondly, what is the average height among your folks.? I notice the raised floor is an issue with most above 5.8-9

Yes makes sense. Any guesses if it would be possible to ditch the purple interiors while still going for Fearless. Or
maybe the Base Fearless variant (which does not have Leatherette seats) just has black fabric interiors (difficult to imagine purple colored fabric seats).

Re: Tata Nexon Facelift launch in September 2023

This being a major facelift from Tata for one of their most earning member of the family aka Nexon they could have gone beyond the feature and design changes. Maybe a TC or CVT transmission if not a fully upgraded engine.

The design changes and colour combination will always be a hit or miss as we all have different perspectives. Some like things upbeat and some want it to be more subtle. Personally I found the purple colour remind me of TARZAN the wonder car movie from 2004. Wished they had Forrest Green or black as well. But I am sure they will launch a dark edition once the hype settles.

Since I have not seen the interiors up close it would not be right to comment however the glowing Tata logo in the middle of a steering wheel seemed distracting or weird. I mean why? Just because LED technology had immense improvement in last few years doesn't mean you put it in all places. Also a purple seat. Maybe they should change the name and call it the Blackcurrant edition.

Looking forward to the drive reviews. Hope is a good thing.

Functionalities of the new 10.25-inch instrument cluster on the new Nexon, it can load maps onto the screen in a few different sizes and formats and does so while staying connected with smartphone wirelessly.

Comparison | New Tata Nexon vs. Old Tata Nexon

Comparison | New Tata Nexon vs. Old Tata Nexon

Introduction

Tata Nexon Facelift launch in September 2023-screenshot-20230903-112127.png

After much anticipation, Tata has unveiled the latest iteration of the Nexon. With numerous significant updates, the new Nexon promises to be a game-changer. The pricing for the new Nexon is set to be unveiled on September 14th. Below, I compare the new Nexon with the old Nexon.

There have been some slight changes in the car's dimensions. The old Nexon measured 3993mm in length, 1811mm in width, and 1606mm in height, whereas the new Nexon's dimensions are 3995mm in length, 1804mm in width, and 1620mm in height. Additionally, the new Nexon has a ground clearance of 208mm, slightly less than the old Nexon's 209mm, and the new Nexon offers a larger boot space of 382 litres compared to the old Nexon's 350 litres.

Exterior Changes

Front

The front of the new Nexon has undergone a complete redesign, featuring new LED headlights and a slimmer, more angular grille. The addition of a split headlamp design and revamped bumper completes the SUV's fresh front look.

Rear

Just like the front, the rear has also been redesigned. It follows the trend of having connected LED tail lights. It has a simpler yet sophisticated
appearance with fewer details on the boot lid and updated bumpers.

Side

The new version of the Nexon retains the original silhouette and sloping roofline. The only change in the side profile of the Nexon facelift is the introduction of freshly designed alloy wheels, which are still 16 inches in size.

New Colour Options

The new Nexon is available in six colours: Fearless Purple, Creative Ocean, Pure Grey, Flame Red, Daytona Grey, and Pristine White. In contrast, the old Nexon also had six standard colours, with a few extra colours introduced through special editions.

Interior Changes

Dashboard and Cabin

The interior has undergone a significant upgrade, featuring a more premium and modern design. The cabin now boasts a more colourful ambience, which varies depending on the variant and exterior colour. Additionally, the automatic transmission (AT) model has a new gear lever. A noteworthy change is the introduction of a new 2-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo in the centre. While the cabin has been updated with new seats and new air conditioning controls, the doors remain largely unchanged, with only minor upholstery modifications.

New Instrument Cluster

The Nexon facelift features a brand-new 10.25-inch fully digital driver's display, which undoubtedly offers a much sharper and clearer appearance compared to the older driver's display. An impressive feature is that it allows your navigation to be displayed on this new driver's display as well.

New Infotainment System

The smaller and outdated 7-inch touchscreen unit has been replaced with a larger 10.25-inch floating screen that comes equipped with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, along with the latest version of Tata's iRA-connected car technology. The top-of-the-line version also features thinner bezels, providing a sleeker appearance and enhancing the overall premium feel of the cabin.

The existing set of features includes an electric sunroof, wireless charger, ventilated front seats, automatic headlamps and wipers, and automatic AC. Additionally, the Tata Nexon now boasts a touch-enabled climate control panel, a height-adjustable co-driver seat, and a premium 9-speaker JBL sound system.

The facelifted Nexon raises the safety standards by offering six airbags as standard across all variants. It also introduces a 360-degree camera, a blind-view monitor, and front parking sensors, which are enhancements over the previous version.

Engine Options

The Nexon facelift maintains its powertrain options, with the same 120PS 1.2-litre turbo-petrol and 115PS 1.5-litre diesel engines. The turbo-petrol engine now comes with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, in addition to the existing 6-speed manual transmission. The diesel engine still offers a 6-speed manual and an AMT transmission. Notably, both automatic variants now include paddle shifters, a segment-first feature. Additionally, the base-spec petrol variants will be available with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

Re: Tata Nexon Facelift launch in September 2023

The presentation during unveil showed Pure variant getting Petrol AMT but the brochure mentions only Creative getting AMT, DCA.
I hope the lower variants Smart+ or at least the Pure to get AMT making 6 airbags + automatic affordable as well.

Re: Comparison | New Tata Nexon vs. Old Tata Nexon

I feel sharing opinions before the media drives are out would not be fair but judging from the looks only, I feel the styling is a little overdone. Others might have different opinions but to my eyes it looks overdone. The design looks good in darker colors as all of those cuts and creases get masked by the darker color. I am surprised as to why a Black color variant is not offered, maybe launch it as a mid cycle update in the form of a dark edition?

Apart from this, some changes are welcome additions and some of them are a step backward. For example, the DCT gearbox, hidden rear wiper, fully digital instrument cluster with maps support, 6 airbags, bigger &upgraded touchscreen are all welcome changes but stuff like the same old AMT for the Diesel engine, 5 speed gearbox for lower variants, touch based HVAC unit(worst part is according to the brochure it stays dim or with no backlight until you touch it to wake it up), 2 spoke steering wheel( that illuminated logo looks horrible and cheap) are all not so welcoming changes in my opinion. Add to this, the price increase in the name of updates that happens with every car. I don't understand why the Diesel gets stepmother treatment, what is so hard to mate an already existing gearbox to an engine that you have been using for so long? This is something that Tata bosses themselves have no clue about.

Honestly, the facelifted 2020 Nexon was a pretty good car to look at minus the horrible instrument cluster. This new one looks good too but a little overdone to my eyes. Nevertheless, a good launch indeed and exciting times ahead for us consumers!

I like it! Not that I will buy it but it truly looks refreshing. I'm sure there will be many folks with personalities that agree with such colours. As far as I go, I think it'll add some colour to our otherwise boring roads.
