re: Tata Nexon Facelift launch in September 2023

Front looks sharp and good. But the rear needed proper redesign. And looking at the rear, I'm not sure why it still looks almost same which is not a good sign.

Finally the triumph of herd-mentality over common sense and utility.

Tata Nexon loses 3" circular fog lamps!

One of the most important requirements on our deadly roads, has always been good and safe additional lights. bi-Xenon HID / Bi-LED projector fog-lamps have always been the best and most economical solution for this purpose. Easiest to install and cheap to buy. A must have on our cars.

Slowly as the world moves to weird fashion of car designs - the Nexon finally loses the extremely useful 3" fog lamps, for fancy looking and in all likelihood useless LED fog lights. What a shame! Let there be darkness .

Truth to be told I found the initial part of the post a bit funny.

Actually we don't know whether these are LEDs but looking at the shape it looks like it. But then again we don't know till they confirm.

Autocar did a computer generated image of the new Nexon based on spy-shots

I prefer my first gen Nexon exterior over this. Interiors look good in new, and these days I don't prefer the 'pop up' LED console, so love the new subdued and inset monitor.

With the new diesel engine providing extra power, I thought Nexon diesel would be the next car in our family. But the deletion of fog lamp or twin pod headlamp setup is a deal breaker for me.

Couldn't buy the current Nexon because of the instrument cluster. Can't buy the next one since it would lose one of the lamps.

+1. Maybe TaMo's way of keeping existing owners happy for longer time .

No no - it's not losing any lamps. But now its following the trend of all contemporaries. It gets LED headlamp + LED fog-lamp module, below the headlamp. Its visible in the images also.

Just that - now its an integrated module, and we lose the flexibility of replacing the unit easily with aftermarket projectors, that have been a boon. Even today- hardly any cars are left that supported this. So Nexon won't be doing something especially bad compared to the others in the facelift. Of course - there lies a remote chance that the stock lighting ends up being remarkably good removing any need for aftermarket additions (wishful thinking I know, but there are always exceptions).

Coupled with ADAS, possibly new engine & DCA integration in place of AMT - this car might in fact all the wow-factor that is needed to sustain high sales.

ADAS radar module is not visible here since they have the system already. So I don't think Nexon will get this. But DCA is almost confirmed while the 1.2 TGDI is on the fence. They may continue with the current engine as well.

I'd be really happy if some good AT (TC/DCA) comes to the diesel Nexon. At least the Sonet will have some competition!

As for the ADAS - ok I just read at places that the Nexon will get ADAS and assumed it to be true, you might be right. As for the Radar though - RADAR is not always needed for ADAS. Like Honda did in the Elevate - ADAS can be implemented just with cameras as well.

And - the forward camera is definitely visible in the grille.

True. The diesel deserves a proper automatic. Also hope they do the same to the Altroz.

Regarding ADAS also you are right. But Tata already has developed a system used by Harrier and Safari so it makes sense for them to use this system.

But the grill camera can get dirty easily. Not ideal for Camera based ADAS like Honda Sensing since they require camera to be clean to detect the obstacles.

re: Tata Nexon Facelift launch in September 2023

Updating the front end is all well and good (honestly it's probably the strongest part of the look of the car), the real difficulty will be in suitably dressing up the polarising rear of the Nexon I feel. Anecdotally I can speak of my family who pretty much ruled out considering the Nexon mostly because of how unpalatable they find the rear 3/4s of the car.
If they can somehow get the rear to tie in much more seamlessly with the rest of the car, I think they'll remove a major impediment from the exterior front in terms of changes for this facelift. If it's anything like that Autocar render then it's promising.
Good to see Tata not falling into the trap of complacency with a strong product. Being proactive with changes is exactly what's needed in our demanding market.

re: Tata Nexon Facelift launch in September 2023

I've been waiting and waiting and waiting for the new Nexon to come. It has been my favourite for couple of years. But unfortunately the new look doesn't impress me as much. I still feel the current gen is most good looking and balanced product overall.

New seltos which I have booked looks much premium and stylish over Nexon now. No regrets. 🙂

re: Tata Nexon Facelift launch in September 2023

I find the facelift appealing and keeps Nexon a fresh product in the most competitive and hot selling segment.
Tata needs to add a proper automatic especially for the diesel option.
One thing to note is that though compact sub 4 metre is hot with demand but the demand is coming from middle class buyer who is sensitive to the rising fuel prices.
With hybrid still being an expensive offering, diesel is still lucrative even with the 10 year rule in NCR.
