re: Tata Nexon Facelift launch in September 2023

Something which I have not been a fan of! Just look at the steeply raked beltline, typical case of form over functionality.
Tata Nexon Facelift launch in September 2023-nexon-beltline-rake.jpg

You get a small rear glass area, see less & feel claustrophobic. Same goes with Altroz.

Pit this against the Brezza, Sonet or even Venue, and all of them look better than the raised hatchback, that the Nexon is.

Views are personal and only for the looks/ design.

Drive safe!

I wish they give the option of 5 speed gear box in all the petrol manual variants. Somehow I feel uncomfortable with a 6 speed gear box as I am used to drive the conventional 5 speed in my first gen Swift petrol.

Hope they change their Automatic Gear box with petrol to DCT and Diesel to TC. They cannot keep selling jerky AMT cars at 17-18 lakh on road. This is the the costliest AMT car in the market currently.

We had a Mahindra Marshal with a 4 speed gear box. When i bought my own car, I kept forgetting there was a 5th gear, for a short period of time. Then, I got used to the 5 speed gear box. Same will happen to everyone. In time, you will also get used to the 6 speed gear box.

Nexon's 6 speed gearbox is a gem to drive on the highway. I own the Altroz diesel with the 5 speed gearbox, which we are discussing. I always wish Altroz diesel had the 6 speed gearbox.

I wish this remains a rumor.

re: Tata Nexon Facelift launch in September 2023

Oh my gosh, what have they done!! Rear looks weird, front looks ok but same. I hate this split headlamp design trend. All they have to do is refine the design, but ended up overdoing it. DCT gearbox is a win, naming scheme is straight up hell, still centre console design is awful, not having 1.2 TGDi is a bummer. Lets hope there are some mechanical improvements to redeem this facelift 2.0

While the front feels like its inspired from Toyota's hyryder rear lights setup looks similar to Hyundai I20. The current design for the front looks much better then this.

Disclaimer: I'm writing about a different car with 6 speed and case may be different for Nexon's ratios; but I believe engineering philosophy should have been same. Hence following:

I currently own 6 speed manual Polo. Frankly, it does not matter if you use the car like 5 speed manual. I do that most of the time. The 6th is optional. The 5th is very close to over-drive. So unless you are cruising on long empty road, don't use 6th and you'll still have economy reasonably close to car with 5th as overdrive.

re: Tata Nexon Facelift launch in September 2023

Am I the only one who is concerned about the 5 speed gearbox meaning that Tata Punch's NA 1.2 gearbox is coming to the Nexon, possibly to take on the Venue and the Sonet 1.2 NA.

I hope it doesn't, though. Not a good engine, that.

Punch NA 1.2 torque is way way lesser than Turbo Nexon P torque and the same GB cant be used.
But again , TA65 GB which is used since 2 decades, perhaps the most stable niggle free product from the Tatas. It's notchy and a bit rubbery but it has been in 1000's of cars and is almost error free.

Punch GB was never an issue. If there is any issue, it's among enthusiasts expecting the punch to give which it doesn't unfortunately.

re: Tata Nexon Facelift launch in September 2023

Is there any news/leak regarding the expected prices for the facelift?

How much can we expect the prices to increase for the top end automatic?

What I meant to say is that I suspect the new Nexon will be available in two engine options (and thus two gearbox)

1) Tata Punch engine + 5 speed gearbox
2) Current Turbo engine + 6 speed gearbox

Like hyundai venue has a base 1.2 engine and 5 speed gearbox.

This will allow a much cheaper entry point, although this may canabalize the Altroz, and possibly the Punch.
This would kill the magnite/kiger though.

I hope case 1 doesn't happen though, because it will be dreadfully slow.

re: Tata Nexon Facelift launch in September 2023

Tata should have just given us the new features and new powertrains. This design is far from feeling robust and cohesive and Tata has unnecessarily given a facelift to the already good looking Nexon.

Only Koreans are doing good facelifts, others companies just end up overdoing the front and back end up with a ruined car.

I think Tata just butchered it this time.

re: Tata Nexon Facelift launch in September 2023

The design maybe not that bad too. They are going with projector headlamps sitting on the lower on the bumper which makes the front too sharp and the back a bit bulged. The only thing i did not like is the number of trims. 11 trims only next to Hyundai i20 sitting at 12 trims

re: Tata Nexon Facelift launch in September 2023

The current Nexon looks more muscular and gives SUV-ish vibes. It also resembles to Range Rover Evoque.
The new design looks more like a hatchback to me.
