The 2023 Creta and Alcazar get 6 airbags in total, including driver, passenger, side and curtain airbags. The SUVs are also equipped with ESC, Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Hill-Start Assist Control and get disc brakes all around. Besides this, all variants of the Creta now come with a 60:40 split rear seat.

Hyundai has also updated its engine line-up with RDE-compliant powertrains. The Creta is offered with a choice of 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines, while the Alcazar comes with 2.0-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options.

Hyundai claims that the updated powertrains are more eco-friendly and are E20 fuel ready. Additionally, the 2023 line-up gets the Idle Start & Go function, which uses an integrated starter generator (ISG) to improve fuel economy in heavy traffic.

Hyundai has also updated the Venue for the 2023 model year. Besides a revised features list, the compact SUV now comes with the same 1.5-litre diesel engine that powers the Creta.

Something is not right here , the Alcazar 2.0 litre petrol isn't RDE compliant , it is due for replacement with 1.5T shortly. Even the website says safety feature standardization across variants for Diesel only

Effectively, only the Prestige MT petrol 7 seat version of the Alcazar would be left out. The others would have it as standard.

Any ideas on when the 1.5T is expected to arrive?

Re: Hyundai launches 2023 Creta & Alcazar with added safety tech

Even though I criticize Hyundai for diluting the body structure in their Indian cars, the addition of 6 air bags as standard is a welcome move. Hope they provide same body structure as their vehicles sold in developed countries for their next version of Indian models.

Re: Hyundai launches 2023 Creta & Alcazar with added safety tech

This seems to be only to meet the government mandate of 6 airbags on all passenger vehicles beginning October 1, 2023.

How much addaitional "safety" would hyundai/kia be able to add with their unstable body shell?

Re: Hyundai launches 2023 Creta & Alcazar with added safety tech

Safety by design is an evolving subject. By GNCAP's own upcoming standards, most of their previously well rated cars won't score well. But adding equipment doesnt hurt. What used to be the race to be dual airbag compliant will now be done for 6 or more airbags and possibly ESC. Less headache for the customer while differentiating between models or across variants.

Agreed ! because other variants have been discontinued and even the ISG is currently standard in Diesel only and not 2.0 Petrol. This is not the case with Creta & Venue.

My source tells production would be somewhere in Mar'23 , so we can expect introduction at the same time or when 2.0 Stocks out from dealers.

Re: Hyundai launches 2023 Creta & Alcazar with added safety tech

This is a good move by Hyundai, whatever be the reason for their motivation (either government regulations or thier unsafe perception in the market).

I always feel that it is very easy for Hyundai to improve the structure and get 5 stars for their cars like creta which will spell a doomsday for other manufacturers, considering how easily their cars excel in other parameters and keep on selling high volumes every month.

Will the 1.5T be available only in Alcazar initially or will Creta/Seltos get them from Mar'23 too?

Re: Hyundai launches 2023 Creta & Alcazar with added safety tech

Till Hyundai improves its body structure, no amount of airbags or three letter acronyms will make it safe. We need official confirmation and proof (GNCAP retest? ) that the Hyundai has improved its shell. Else I would treat this a clever tactic by Hyundai to deviate attention from its poor body shell and give ammo to the sales people in the showroom to fool the public.

It will be launched in Verna >> Alcazar >> Creta (with Facelift next year)

The good part is that it will be available in both MT & DCT versions

I don't see Creta 1.4 Turbo in the updated list, is it still not RDE-compliant, or discounted temporary

The 1.4L couldn't be updated to be RDE-compliant, hence it has been discontinued. It will be replaced by a new 1.5L turbo-petrol which will make it's appearance first in the new-gen Verna, coming soon.
