1.4 turbo petrol engine is going to be discontinued. It be replaced by a new 1.5 turbo petrol which will be BS6.2 rated and hopefully E20 compliant as well.

Re: Hyundai launches 2023 Creta & Alcazar with added safety tech

Both the Creta and Innova's pricing strategy over the years is making people reconsider their investments

A car that was Rs.9.99L ex-showroom couple of years ago is now retailing at Rs.11.9L ex-showroom. Appreciate the safety features added, but do they really cost the additional Rs.2L even after certain comfort features were removed citing chip shortage?

This is probably a general statement about inflation, and it's not just in India. Even in the US, car prices are shooting up at an incredible rate.

One thing which has skipped in the whole thread is that there's no petrol auto anymore , only the IVT is available which i have driven takes the fun of driving a manual and absolutely useless as a partial automatic .

You are mistaking the IVT for the IMT. IVT is basically what Hyundai calls their CVT which is very much available with the NA Petrol. IMT is the clutchless manual.

The IMT is also available with the Venue and Creta.

I stand corrected , IVT is the CVT , Quiet an absurd naming convention by Hyundai India .

Re: Hyundai launches 2023 Creta & Alcazar with added safety tech

What is very interesting to note in the brochure pictures is that in the Alcazar, the Curtain Airbag does not seem to be covering the 3rd row of seats. I don't think that is as per Government regulation intentions. Will Hyundai declare Alcazar as a five seater? Or are they doing development of some other Airbags as well?

This is a very common strategy to start with a model and then slowly moving it up making space for other models below.

When the Creta was launched there was practically only one SUV category. Now you have the micro SUV (Punch etc), sub Compact SUV (venue etc) and the compact SUV ( creta etc). I think this reflects a maturing market where buyers are increasing sophisticated basing their purchase decisions on not just one parameter like prices instead on a host of other parameters like perfomance, size, parking, while not compromising on creature comforts like FATC, power windows etc...

In the case of the Alcazar even I bet there are buyers who stayed away from it purely because the petrol engine was not great. Most probably would have chose the Carens instead of just waited.

Drive on,
Shibu

Re: Hyundai launches 2023 Creta & Alcazar with added safety tech

Why is the Carwale site showing manual-7 gears.

Is this a typo or Hyundai has managed to get a 911 classic gearbox in the Alcazar?

They probably included reverse instead of following the convention of counting only forward gears.

Sneak peek at the facelifted Petrol Alcazar:

Grill redesign appears to be a halfhearted effort to me, neither here nor there. This may look better in darker shades but will resemble Ertiga to an extent.

Re: Hyundai launches 2023 Creta & Alcazar with added safety tech

Surprising dearth of drive reviews of the turbo Alcazar. I would have thought that it would be very helpful.

Drive on,
