Quick question - what will now happen to the existing iTurbo variants? Is Tata gonna phase it out?

And a logical next question would be given that the platform can clearly support Nexon engines, what's stopping them from putting out that bigger diesel with the AMT or even a bigger petrol engine with the DCA?

Very well priced IMO.

I got my Altroz diesel XZ+ top variant for same 9.49 lakhs ex showroom in 2021.
The R1 gets 4 more airbags and a bigger touch screen than my car, while losing out on steering mounted controls (useful), Xpress cool (useless) and IRA (useless).

Great pricing!

Will definitely do a test drive of thr Racer variant.

BTW what was Tata thinking when they approved this gear lever?

PS : I hope Tata doesn't cap the top speed to 165 kmph as they did in iturbo. They should let the Racer variant uncapped like the diesel ones.

What is it sorely missing is a DCT with Paddle Shifters. Altroz has always been treated like a step child at Tata. EV delayed despite showcasing it even before Punch ICE was launched. AT delayed and even then came with NA. No AMT even for those who wanted one for Petrol NA or Diesel.

6 Airbags given only now and that too even in top two models in NA and not as standard like Nexon.
Even now 6 Airbags are not available in AT??? So people who want an AT don't want Safety?? It should be other way actually since people spending more on AT definitely would want 6 Airbags.

That gear lever looks very dated. Why could they not use the one from Nexon?

That is a sad looking gear lever, does not excite at all, not sure how this was approved for a car targeting enthusiasts. Rest of the interior seems ok.

The front callipers could have been red, I see its same as stock. Also being a sporty car as they are marketing they could have added a disc at the rear.

Waiting for drive reviews, but on the looks and features i20 N-Line still feels better. Ohh I so much miss the Polo .

Sorry for the bad news, But reasons known only to TATA, this is their latest manual gearlever knob. Nexon, Harrier, Safari et al.

I am in the market for the Altroz and it is very disappointing that Tata has not launched a Racer variant with light coloured interiors.

I am actually sick of black interiors, they make no sense in our weather, and make the interiors feel very claustrophobic.

I remember reading somewhere a year ago (this was before the launch of the facelifted Nexon) about a new 1.2L Direct injection Turbo Petrol engine from TATA. Power figures were, if i remember right, 125bhp & torque at 250Nm. I thought it was a slam dunk that they would put it in the TATA Altroz Racer.

I guess that was a bridge too far. Maybe a Nexon Racer?

Tiago JTP looked so much better. Proportions were spot on. Why is the exhaust rusted already? What the hell is that gear lever? What are those atrocious colours? No differentiating bodykit nor suspension components or steering why even make these?
