Maruti Suzuki Jimny reviews to drop by May 20, media drives in mid- May.

It appears the early estimates of a June-July delivery commencement timeframe are accurate. I had mentally prepared for a July delivery anyway.

A fairly elaborate Jimny vs Thar side-by-side comparison on size and dimensions:

Due to some unknown reason, Kolkata and Chennai were the 2 metros that were given a miss by MSIL in the first round of Jimny showcase in March and April.
Now that the media drives seem to be planned for mid May, hope they have some more time for the showcase and could bring them to these 2 cities later in April.

Looks like Maruti were making an ad shoot for Jimny by driving in a lake in Ladakh. Video is included in the link.

A Ladakh MP has criticized them for risking the ecosystem.

I do kind of agree. This also encourages general people to drive their cars in water bodies which many times are sacred for local people.

Maruti Jimny in a commercial shoot in Ladakh as launch nears!

Totally agreed. That's an irresponsible act from Maruti and the authorities that gave them permission to shoot in the lake.

Such a bad example from no.1 automotive brand India.
Definitely some lakes are sacred to the local folks, and this video/ad will influence more people to drive their cars in Ladakh lakes.:Frustrati

Crossing water bodies is part and parcel of the Ladakh transit experience. Please request the MP in question to address the massive pollution caused by overloaded diesel logistics and people transport vehicles in the region. Total lack of active sewage management results in human waste getting dumped in water bodies / septic tanks to bleed into the groundwater.

In contrast, a vehicle actively driving through water exchanges hardly any contaminants with the environment. Perhaps some grease / road grime. Gone are the days when jeeps would leak profusely leaving mini deepwater-horizons in their wake.

I should be avoided but this is pure politics at play here. I am sure the agency involved has taken required permissions because you need to provide a detailed shoot plan including the script, shots, animal permits etc. Even if a wild animal or bird appears in the shot it has to be approved before the film is released. The paperwork is mind-boggling.

For a car that has garnered so much attention and bookings, why is Maruti releasing demo/show vehicles so selectively only to few cities?

They also missed Hyderabad. We already had Fronx.

Their thought process is mass manufacturing. volume based, but they’re throwing the words “niche” and “premium” in interviews too much. I’m worried about the pricing.

At the end of the day, it is a basic vehicle without much comforts. Not even armrest.

Still, they’re going opposite of what their core is. Mass manufacturing and sales but they’re killing the hype with this slow behaviour.

After all this time, I only hope they price it sensibly and not become overconfident. We Indians are price sensitive and MS knows that. So there’s a sliver of hope too.
