This seems to be the trend now-a-days.

For Jimny too, currently bookings are done without test drives or displaying the car in the showrooms.Situation is slightly better as at least those lucky can now see the vehicle at the Auto Expo.
Further there are also many professional reviews available online for the 3 door Jimny to give some idea. So the situation is a little better.
Many of the 3 door Jimny international reviewers have mentioned the car to be lackluster on paved roads including ride and handling and also noise isolation is not up to mark making the long distance driving tiring. Such limitations can only be checked after the test drives.
I believe the Jimny for many and more so for auto enthusiastic Bhpians carry more of an emotional quotient and is an object of desire type situation etc.
One more thing noticed is, the car internationally has a big waiting period and buyers struggle to get hold of one. India is indeed lucky to get a new 5 door model with hopefully reasonable waiting times.

When I booked it, the showroom said they will refund full amount in case the Jimny does not appeal after seeing it or for any other reason. This is some saving grace in the end.

Jimny lacks seat height adjuster even in top model displayed in Expo. I guess default setting has freed up enough headroom. Headroom should be least of worry in this. It is the shoulder room that is quite limited. It's almost rubbing the co passenger even for average built.

The inherent narrowness of the Jimny causes this.
Same thing with the Gypsy too.
Indians have gotten larger and wider in the last 30 years for sure.

Does the Indian Jimny have ADAS features. Seems like the International version has Lane Assist, Automatic Emergency braking and a couple of more aids.

I haven't seen anything about the same for the Indian 5 door version or have I missed anything?

I wrote this in one of the Group thought to mention here also.

In 1989 Gypsy LWB sold to a large extent, at that time it was made due to army requirements and today if you think samurai would command same value in India , I doubt .. gypsy mod had rear doors also. Atleast the Fauji ones.

The value LWB had in all spheres was no hindrance to any challenge thrown at it ; in today's day and age we feel swb would be more practical. Aussies are asking for 5 door because they also want their buggy to be little more utilitarian while been fun with friends.

If we are solely talking about weekend off-road event and trails yes SWB is way way more efficient , basically a off-road go cart.

SWB on demand booking should be present , they simply have to change inventory allocation

What I feel is all market of 5 door will be serviced from India and 3door from Japan

So Philippines goes back to procuring from Japan and Australia gets the jimny from India and similarly for other places

From the earlier posts, it seems this green colour will be reserved for the defence forces use in India. It will not be made available for private usage.

Chiffon Ivory or a shade of Sand Brown/ yellow would have been good. I could see many chiffon Ivory Jimny in YouTube videos. Perhaps this is most favourite in Philippines and South Africa, next to the Jungle Green colour.

In India I believe they are launching it but only for the Armed forces.
