Glad to eat my words!!!

When both these models rolled onto the floor, I could just hear Maruti's cash registers ka-ching overtime.

Glad they left the Jimny interiors alone. Feared they would put some digital instrument cluster crap or huge infotainment or something as simple as covering up the old school gearlever boot cover. And looks like no cost cutting done for the Indian model either. Even the headlamp washers were left alone. Heck, even the Kinetic Yellow colour made it to our market.

The Baleno Cross looks awesome, especially with the alloys in motion. Two engine options as expected, with the turbo getting the automatic and the K12 getting the AMT. Bu they could have given a 6 speed manual for the turbo at least. Guess it must be the conservative 100bhp that makes them quote the 0-60km/h timing. Stop it car companies. Leave the 0-60 timing for 100cc commuter bikes.

And the name. Fronx. What the heck!!! Trust me, people going to change the F to P to B. I would happily say Braanxx, instead of Fronx.

Am I the only one who finds all these bright yellow and gold accents to be terribly ugly? I was like "my eyes! my eyes!" when I saw these pictures. These look like aftermarket additions, which most people I am thinking, will hate! Providing these as an option is still fathomable, but making them standard in their cars makes me think they do not understand their customers.

I cannot believe this is the same MS that sold us Zen, Esteem and Baleno circa 20 years ago. Those interiors were bland but compared to these, classy. Even the exterior designs with 13" & 14" steel wheels looked much better than these gaudy cars.

And I am wishing good luck in advance to those who want to repaint these panels due to scratches/dents. Maybe a stencil from the neighbourhood rangoli shop will help.

Re: Maruti @ Auto Expo 2023

Just the usual stuff on display by MS except Jimny and Fronx. This car maker is simply not interested in going full EV as stated by R.C Bhargava in his recent interview to 'The Print'.

Nevertheless, the usual stuff in their stable and followed up with new additions by the name of 'Jimny' et al should keep their cash registers ringing.

Re: Maruti @ Auto Expo 2023

Wow, Boosterjet is back with 3nm less torque than before, which already had 20nm less torque than other markets. However it gets the 6-AT. A full spec variant should have been hot to drive.

Plonk this to the Brezza and save tax + Insurance Maruti. It will anyday pull better than the K15C.

What is the difference between mild hybrid and auto stop/start. I presume they are same.

Re: Maruti @ Auto Expo 2023

I have seen all threads complaining on whats missed.. We never appreciate what it offers.. I am very much impressed with the launch of Jimny n Fronx, starting with outright bookings.. I would have bought one of these if these were launched last year. 🙁

We are in India, we have speed warnings beyond 120 KMH and its annoying. Mechanics aren't indulging in silencing those due to government norms. What are we expecting then? And Highway driving by general crowd has increased multifold, even if you get to experience the speed, it won't be for long. These are daily cars and not super ones.. Jimny's engine will be more than sufficient for its segment..

How about this? Mahindra provides great engines and exclusive features, but have a real tough times with manufacturing capabilities. I would rather go with Maruti which provides stable and problem free cars with real useful features and powers.

A mild hybrid is usually a car where the Internal combustion engine is assisted by a small electric motor powered by a small battery. It is used only to give an initial push to the car when starting from standstill or from very low speeds.

A Start Stop system is where the engine shuts off when the car is brought to a standstill, like at a red light and then automatically starts when you release the brake in order to move from the red light. The system also works in bumper to bumper traffic and there is also a button to disable this feature.

The two are mutually exclusive and cars can have either both or any one of the systems. It is also possible to have Start Stop without mild hybrid like in Jeep Compass.

Start Stop is touted as a fuel Saving technique and to reduce CO2 emissions as it cuts the engine idling duration.

Mild hybrid is more of a performance feature that gives the car improved initial pickup.

The Ad seems very much inspired by erstwhile Jeep Compass Ads. In any case, nice concept and good Ad - made me re-run the same video 3-4 times

Minor correction - They are not completely mutually exclusive. Yes, only 'idle stop start' feature can also be implemented using a high endurance starter motor. However, having mild hybrid and not implementing stop start' doesn't make sense, since the mild hybrid motor can usually also take cranking load. The implementation method depends on OEM and the complexity they intend to adopt (i e. Integrated starter generator or Belt starter generator). Mild hybrids can also have conventional starter motors for cold cranking (mild hybrid motors can become a size too big, when they have to handle cold cranking load) and also as a fail safe, if mild hybrid system somehow malfunctions.

The Jimny will be also available with a 4 speed Auto? It is looking like a tantalising option frankly.
