Re: Tata Motors @ Auto Expo 2023

Wait, so no Punch EV? :o And what about the Harrier and Safari Facelifts? They mentioned some Dark editions, but nothing about the updated versions.

No Harrier or Safari facelift? That is a bummer. Thought they would announce it given MG has launched Hector facelift.

Re: Tata Motors @ Auto Expo 2023

Not being an EV enthusiast yet, the only exciting thing I see in the Tata Motors space is the Gasoline Turbo Direct engines which are coming up. Having been with diesels for long, petrol engines are not much of a switch for me as a BEV would be. Hope Tata brings in a well tested and integrated GDi engines soon. But looking at the amount of time they gave in the show for these, I will just keep that news aside for now.

Btw, looking at the Altroz Sport Racer, am reminded of the Tiago JTP. Hope the Altroz Sport becomes more accepted and we see it large numbers.

However, nice to see the changes in the commercial vehicle space. Commercial transport is where more fuel is burnt than in the PV space. CHanges there should be priority, and will make a bigger difference to the current push on reducing emissions, plus lowering cost of cargo movement.

The paint job on the bonnet is the thing that makes it ugly.

It will be great if it isn't standard.

Wait for Safari facelift continues! Dear Tata, you're on the verge of losing a loyal customer who's bought 4 Tata cars in a row!

I think as the Launch is due soon, they chose to keep the excitement rolling for another day.

Tata Motors shows Punch i-CNG and Altroz i-CNG with twin cylinder technology that doesn’t occupy the entire boot.

I think the Sierra concept looks absolutely stunning, and wee bit closer to production form - even after accounting for my obvious Millennial bias

Looks so similar to LR Defender - similar body shape, with in EV form and with TATA logo.

Did they indicate any timelines? AFAIK, this is based on gen 2 EV platform so can be launched in reasonable time-frame? (Avinya is based on gen 3 platform and will see light of the day in 2025 at the earliest)

Looks like there are significant upgrades coming up TATA cars. New screens and many updates make ALTROZ RACER a new technology demonstrator.

I think it has matured really nicely vis a vis Pratap Bose's initial concept. While the first concept was spectacular, the bulbous rear wasn't my favourite. They have concealed it neatly in the latest iteration.

Everything looks great on this car except that Tata logo!
They really need to refresh that 20+ year old logo to a newer 2D one.
Heck even the word “TATA” written (Skoda style) would look better than the logo itself!

That UI looks much slicker than the one on the current TATA infotainment. Hopefully this screen and UI makes it to the rest of their existing portfolio soon

Re: Tata Motors @ Auto Expo 2023

Seems like Tata is betting big on the Altroz. All the updates are impressive. They seriously needed to up the game when compared to i20. Only grouse for me is the needle-less instrument cluster. I hope they retain the diesel. If Nexon spec diesel is available, it would be the greatest thing to happen.

Just when i thought this new instrument cluster will be carried over to all the other cars, I see Altroz iCNG with the tiago's. Anyway, it's CNG, cost cutting is imminent. Punch iCNG however doesn't look the same as Altroz iCNG. It's great that they managed not to lose the boot space much. But there's no spare wheel?

I am thinking, Harrier's and safari's facelift would sport the same look as Harrier EV. Just the way they launched the Nexon facelift after the Nexon EV.

Let see if there are any timelines for the ICE Curvv. I am thinking the 1.5L TGDI petrol would be fitted in the Curvv. I am guessing they will definitely have a diesel. Everyone knows the benchmark Creta sells half the car in diesel avatar. 1.2L would be in Nexon? And the current 1.2L turbo MPFI in altroz? Lets see.

Nexon's updates would be displayed tomorrow, i guess.
