Recently a friend of mine and her mom had to take a flight at 230AM from Bangalore, since it was a weekend trip, they chose to drive as Uber and Ola can be unreliable. All parking at KIA were full and they had to use the P6 parking lot which is at the far end, though nothing untoward, she said she felt insecure about 2 women walking at that time, with many men who were lurking around the lot staring and gawking.

I think its not a bad idea, if they spend some time and effort in implementing it well.

Potential of misuse does not invalidate the benefits of a rule. There are chances of women getting harassed in women only areas that does not mean that we dissolve them all.

Re: MH to get 20% public parking spaces reserved for women

Worth reading, to understand a woman's perspective. Doubly so, since this is a male forum. https://indianexpress.com/article/op...space-8358038/

The sad reality is that for a woman, sexual violence and harassment is a daily fear if not fact of life, whereas for a man it's relatively very rare.

Re: MH to get 20% public parking spaces reserved for women

Well , this is definitely not a male forum, and merely reaerving space doesnt guarantee public safety. There should be fear of violation of laws which is sadly not part of our current societal attributes. The second aspect is providing dignity and respect to women right from childhood. This is a far deeper issue that cant be compensated for by extending some token privileges. The nub of the problem regarding crimes against women in India largely lies there.
