Need guidance availing Vendor Discount from Mahindra

Hi fellow BHPians,

I booked Bolero Neo N10 (O) in Pune. I made the booking on my wife's name to avail the vendor discount as she works with Hella which is a vendor company of M&M. The dealer has checked the eligible vendor discount and is asking for PURCHASE ORDER from HELLA addressed to MAHINDRA DEALER.

I would like to ask here if anyone availed such discount from Mahindra? If yes, what was the process you followed?

Thank you in advance

If they want a PO from Hella, it means that Hella is buying the car, but that is not the case. Your wife is buying the car.

Are you sure vendor discounts are applicable even to *employees* of vendors, and not just the vendor company itself? If the discount is available to vendor employees too, then proof of employment should have been enough.

Exactly my thoughts, PO just doesn't make any sense, the proof of employment should work but they were adamant on PO. They have 4500/- discount for Vendor Employees. I have raised the issue with M&M customer care, expecting a reply from them soon. Will post updates here.

I availed a vendor discount when buying my Ford Figo back in 2013 and all I had to show was my ID card. The dealer had a list of all the approved vendors to whom the discount was applicable.

The company raising a PO makes no sense at all ! In the case of Ford, there was a Corporate sales manager who was in charge of such topics, so ask the dealer if you can speak to someone like this to sort it out.

What I would do is ask your wife to speak to people in Mahindra to get in touch with the right team for this and help resolve it !

4500 rs discount is rather low and they will probably just knock it off the final bill if you say that you are going to buy it from elsewhere.

The thing is they have already given a December discount of 71000 on ex showroom figure, which includes Company as well as dealer margin, so dealer is trying to save even 4500. I have provided the vendor code to them, still they are reluctant and so am I I am in no hurry to pick up the car; the more they delay better for me as I will get 2023 on RC
But not going to give up on vendor discount.

Re: Need guidance availing Vendor Discount from Mahindra

I got one for my Harrier. Maybe 25K IIRC. Employees aren't eligible, the org has to buy one.
Technically Hella would have to provide a vendor code + PO and then it'd be applicable.
Enjoy your ride

Process My employee followed:

1. Contact dealer: what document they require for the proof of association with vendor? Sometimes just ID card is accepted but sometimes they ask for company letter stating details of employee.

2. Contact Mahindra customer care also: to see if they have any new forms introduced. Sometimes there are change in rules. (point 1 and 2 can be changed in order).

3. Submit the letter/forms/ID card etc. to dealership.

The discount should be implemented with the above requirements. Few years back the rules were not very uniform, but the situation may have changed now.

Squeeze every penny of discount that you can from these dealers & later you can go to some other dealer for servicing.

I did the same while buying my Tiago the only difference is BSVI norms where to kick in and the company was offering good discounts on BSIV products. My dealer was trying to save 5 ltrs fuel coupon (they will do whatever it takes to save money & slice the customer instead) but i insisted and got the coupon, said thanks to the sales rep and pushed off.

Firstly, you can get 2023 RC regardless. Take delivery on a risk letter this week and get RC done next week. There is no need to delay closing the deal for this.

Secondly, it’s futile holding on to ₹4500 discount when you have got ₹71000 off! Frankly it’s seeming like an ego issue more than anything else. You could jeopardise losing the hefty December discount if you wait longer.

Thirdly, just close the deal and move ahead to bringing your car home and enjoying it rather than waste your time over this small haggle

UPDATE: Contacted Mahindra Customer care, they also got involved and finally dealer agreed upon giving the said discount. ID card was sufficient it seems. Got insurance done from TATA AIG directly, dealer was offering TATA AIG policy but was not ready to negotiate the deal, they quoted 49kish, got the policy with almost all addons from AIG in 42K. Total Savings, 71000 as December Discount, 4500 as Vendor Employee discount, 7000 in insurance, total 82500/-. Gave go ahead for passing, as family is very excited to take the delivery as soon as possible. Will update the complete buying and delivery experience in a separate thread
