Re: The "New Luxury Car" Price Check Thread | Track Discounts, Offers & Deals on Audi, BMW, Mercedes

Hi all,
I’m looking to buy an X3 in Bangalore, at the moment the dealer is quoting the fixed Ex-Showroom cost as what it is and no discounts (72.3) . Could you share the POC at Kun who quoted 62,00,000 ex showroom .

Also what are the discounts that can be expected on the lower trim of the Q7

Atleast 7L and 10L or more if negotiated hard and with older models. This discount quote is on ex-showroom

Note: Anyone looking to get a luxury car which is not fully made in India, ie it's either CKD or CBU, this might be the best time to get it considering the discounts going on due to unsold inventory and the impending price hike.

Re: The "New Luxury Car" Price Check Thread | Track Discounts, Offers & Deals on Audi, BMW, Mercedes

One of the BMW dealers shared an email screenshot regarding an upcoming price hike, indicating up to a 2% increase on select models starting August 2024.

Now might be the best time to close any deals, as current offers are particularly good on certain models. The impending price hike could diminish the benefits of the festive and year-end offers.

Regards,
Sohail

CBU models would see an even larger increase imo. Moreover, this increase should reflect for even Audi, Mercedes and other manufactures too. Registration costs have also gone up a lot in some states and UTs lately.

Might be a good time to get a deal before 1st Aug if someone is sitting with a few quotes but waiting for the perfect time.

As per my knowledge, BMW X3 is no longer available in the petrol variant.
However, I received offers for the BMW X3 20d M Sport with a discount of ₹10,00,000 from both the Delhi and Gurgaon dealerships.

Below are the details:

Retail Offer : 7,50,000
BMW Flexi Offer : 1,50,000
Corporate Offer : 1,00,000

Re: The "New Luxury Car" Price Check Thread | Track Discounts, Offers & Deals on Audi, BMW, Mercedes

Guys, I'm looking to buy either an Audi A4 or a Toyota Camry. Honestly started off with just replacing my Honda City, with a desire for a Sedan thats better than the City. But there really is nothing between the 22L range to the 50L range. Next sedan is the Audi and the Camry. Wish the Corolla was still available.

We test drove the A4 technology and it's just an awesome car. Loved the ride quality, the power, and the interiors too. I felt the ride is better than the 3 series which offers a stiffer suspension.

The Camry offers an much better ride though. Just amazing comfort in driving as well as in the back seat. My family just fell in love with the ride quality, The interiors are not as exciting as what we would expect from a 50L car honestly. But love the comfort, and the maintenance cost will be much lower than the Audi.... so am still considering it despite the not-exciting front dash board.

While at the Audi showroom we also saw an A6 with very low miles as a used car option. Someone had purchased it, and during delivery they changed their mind and went for a higher variant. So this vehicle has only 51km on it. The ride comfort in this car is just amazing, and the price is very attractive at 56L, just I'm not keen on the even higher maintenance costs and the low mileage it offers. But this was extremely tempting....

I'm trying to stick to my budget which is approx 45L on road.

The best quote I have from Camry so far (I have not sat down to negotiate with the salesperson yet) is 54L on road.

The best quote from A4 Technology is also about 52L for a new car.

There is an A4 Technology demo car available for 47L with about 7000 km on it. It comes with extended warranty so I think this is a good option.

I thought to check with other folks on this forum. I'm reading through the buying experience of others, and I find that some of you are getting discounts of 8L or more on Camry, and getting quotes of 48L on new A4 Technology (not Demo).

Should I be looking for a better price? I'm wondering if I should wait for the end of the quarter to get better prices.

Here's the quote from the Audi showroom.

My current cars are a 2021 Innova Z AT, and a 2011 Honda City V AT. Love both these vehicles, but the City is showing it's age now. Hence looking to upgrade.

Re: The "New Luxury Car" Price Check Thread | Track Discounts, Offers & Deals on Audi, BMW, Mercedes

Both the current Audi A4 and Toyota Camry are long in the tooth. They are approaching the end of the current generation and in global markets, the next gen Camry is already on sale and the current generation of A4 is already replaced by the new A5.

I am a big proponent of buying cars early in the generation, so that the car stays fresh for the next 6 to 7 years, as the latest generation available in the market. A facelift may occur 3-4 years down the line, but the basic shape and character of the car a retained throughout the generation. Waiting for a few months to buy the next generation of the Camry, which is expected to be launched in India by end of the year, would be the best move in my opinion. Take a look at the attached picture of the 2025 Camry launched recently in the US - it looks real sleek!

The all new A5 is also a great looker and much advanced over the current generation. Buying the new gen cars would be the wise decision - they may cost more, but you will feel happy for a long time that you have one of the latest cars available globally for many years to come. Each generation advances significantly in terms of safety, comfort and fuel efficiency. The additional costs of buying a new generation are offset by higher resale prices at the end of the lifetime. For instance, who would want to buy the previous generation A4 with sold from 2008 to 2017 - if one has the choice between a very late model 2016 A4 car from that generation versus an early model 2017 from the current generation sold in India, I would easily pay a premium of 10 lakhs for the new A4 versus the old.

If your usage is mainly within city, Camry is a fantastic option. It is superior to a lot of German cars when it comes to urban commute. I am assuming you probably felt the same way when you test drove it given your long term Superb ownership. Very comfortable, great mileage and low cost of ownership. Our March-2014 Camry Hybrid is doing great, the hybrid battery is getting replaced as we speak. This is an expense one must be prepared when owning the hybrid powertrain for many years and it's going to cost us around Rs 3L. I am happy to pay this price, not because hybrid saves me fuel costs but it offers exceptionally smooth driving experience in city traffic - smooth like an electric car without the hassle of charging anxiety. Everyone in the family loves Camry.

If your usage is mainly on the highways, I would probably go for a German sedan. Their suspension, NVH, overall build, safety, power delivery and dynamics come to the fore as the speeds go beyond 80 kmph. I'm sure you would know this as a Skoda Superb owner.

Would I buy the current generation near the end of its lifecycle? I have no desire to be seen in the latest-and-greatest model, I keep my cars till they fall apart so resale is never a consideration. If I see a better value in the newer model, I would go for it but that rarely happens unless there is a major technological breakthrough, addition of important creature comforts or design language upgrade. Some examples are introduction of hybrid/electric powertrain, adaptive suspension, 6+ airbags, ventilated seats, Volvo/Lexus radical exterior design revamp, etc. I wouldn't pay more for a larger screen, newer LED lights and other incremental updates. If I am getting the current model for 20%+ less and the next model is just an incremental updates that I won't miss, I would buy the current model. A lot of new launches fall in this category. I am 100% not going to regret my purchase when I see the newer model parked next to my older model. Given my typical 10-15+ years of ownership, driving an outdated model is not an issue for me.

The A4 and Camry don't seem to have caught your fancy, one is the size of your current City inside and the camry isn't luxury, but close enough. Buy the A6(the 51 km run you were offered) , it's a solid upgrade, where the luxury segment truly starts. The innova is your insurance for long trips and the diesel AT makes it a keeper. The city can be kept as a beater, you'll not get much in resale and have one less car of you sell it for a low price, automatic beaters are a luxury.

I am a bit sceptical about this. The owner returned a car with 51kms is a major red flag. Most cars have that mileage at the time of PDI or handover. To me it looks like the car was registered and later rejected in PDI or has a major issue.

Please make sure you do a thorough PDI of this car. If everything turns out well, good for you.

Yeah will need to check it for sure. Though the dealers story is that the car never left the dealership at all, the buyer decided to step up from the Premium Plus to the Technology. All this while taking delivery of the car.

I'm not inclined for this car anyway, it's way out of my budget and will take more to maintain as well.

I would not say that. I liked both the A4 and the Camry. We test drove the A4 first, loved it. Then the Camry and suddenly there was confusion because the ride quality of Camry is better, but the interiors of the A4 are better. So a choice between a premium feel of the A4, and the ride quality of the Camry. I need a car for the city driving only. For longer drives we use the Innova exclusively.

The A6 just became a red herring since it's already outside my budget (despite the discount). The ride and the interiors are just awesome, but still outside my budget.

Retaining the City is not an option as I only have two car parking spots. So while I love the idea of the beater, it's not really an option for me.

I just need to pick between the A4 and the Camry. Does it make sense to move the purchase decision out to the end of the quarter when they are more likely to give big discounts?
