I would truly agree with you on this. I saw the dashboard in the new WRV and to be honest, it is really disappointing. The dashboard is the same as the Amaze launched in 2018! Like seriously? A modern car to be launched in 2023 with a 2018 compact sedan dashboard . I don't know what's going on in the design department.

It is just a midlife facelift of the 5th generation which was launched in 2020. It is normal for Honda City.

2014 4th gen City received facelift in 2017
2020 5th gen City facelift is due in 2023

It's a cosmetic Face-lift along with power train modifications to meet RDE Norms. Also, it is likely that ADAS tech is introduced in the ICE Version of City.

External:

Blackened Crome bar on the front grill.
Body color door handles instead of chrome.
Wider Tyres and Alloys, coupled with decent tyres.
Firmer suspension - similar damping to that of eHev.
70% transparency UV protected glass - all round.
Better NVH with proper cladding for the wheel arches.


Internal:

ADAS - At least level one (Emergency braking, Auto high beam and Dynamic cruise control).
Electric park brake with Auto hold (CVT version).
Herman music system with a better touch screen.
Better resolution rear view camera with adaptive steering feedback.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Wireless smartphone charger.
USB-C charging points for the rear passengers.
Leather Seat colour similar to that of eHev.
Sun shade for rear windows.
Slightly firmer seats.
Alloy spare wheel.


Willing to pay a lakh more for the above features! I will have a Red one with a manual transmission and a 1.5L iVTEC NA engine, in ZX trim.

As an existing owner of a 5th gen city and driven the car for the last 7 months, below are the things from the above list which I think would make a lot of difference in the ownership experience :

1. 70% transparency UV protected glass - all round.
2. Better NVH with proper cladding for the wheel arches.
3. Better resolution rear view camera with adaptive steering feedback.
4. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
5. Wireless smartphone charger.
6. Sun shade for rear windows.

I am willing to get these as an added accesory if made available by Honda.

The chrome bar has grown on me and now I sort of like it and the 185 section tyres though many have upgraded but I feel have been adequate for my style of sedate driving. Also, our highways do not warrant speeds in excess of 80-90 kmph for which the 185s seem adequate.

Honda seriously needs to improve the quality of plastic of the gauge cluster lens. It's probably the softest plastic known to mankind and picks up scratches like there's no tomorrow. The bottom part of the cluster is completely scratched up even on new cars in showrooms.
While it's too much to ask for, they should also make available electronic parking brake with brake hold function in the ZX ICE City. It's an absolute blessing with the maddening traffic around.

Last I spoke to the sales person in Honda, he told me that it will be a minor facelift launch in June-July 2023. Highlight will be introduction of Strong hybrid in lower variants like V and VX.

Fingers crossed. City is still one of the most VFM car in sub 20 lakh sedan segment.

The facelift doesn't have much changes for the ICE , just cosmetic updates and high price increase. But, V Hybrid is definitely launching.
And as per a reliable source the launch should happen by Mar'23
