Re: Hyundai Exter Compact SUV bookings open

This is superb competitive pricing by Hyundai. They literally have taken Tata Punch head on matching each variant price. It will literally boil down to the product now for sales.

I own a Punch Creative AMT and its a wonderful vehicle and the family enjoys the rides. But the biggest irritant is the AMT. The head ding dong due to a very badly tuned AMT is just so frustrating, especially the 1st gear which is too short.

If Exter provides a much better AMT experience, that itself will give it more sales. Punch has a very handsome design that will age well and I am sure that car will continue to sell well in the coming future too.

Competition is the best thing to happen to a market.

Thanks,
Deb

That is Hyundai's clever touch, they matched the base variant prices, but Hyundai never sells the base variant to customers unless the customer is super sticky and talented in getting it from them. On the other hand Tata is happily selling the base variant since launch.

This car looks better than Ignis and Punch. Quite a good car for city purposes. Is this the cheapest sunroof car in India on sale now ? By this Hyundai ensures that Venue drop outs will buy Exeter.

Re: Hyundai Exter Compact SUV bookings open

Excellent pricing and variant distribution by Hyundai!
They have cleverly kept the starting price low with a gap of 1.2L for the 2nd variant.

IMO, it looks better than the Punch. It comes with a 4 cylinder engine compared to 3 cylinder in Punch. The Hyundai AMT is much smoother than that in Punch.

Note that the boot space is even more than the Venue.

The AMT starts from S variant at 7.96L.

The SX variant is nicely loaded except rear washer and wiper.

Exter may now be the cheapest car in India having a sunroof.

Overall, this one is a great option as a second car or for those who need it mostly in city limits.

Re: Hyundai Exter Compact SUV bookings open

Hyundai has got a great chance here to enter the budget EV segment with Exter. Hope they would have thought about this as TATA is ready with Punch EV. Exter is really a good segment to enter the market with an EV variant as well.

No. The Tata Altroz XM+ (S) MT Petrol Variant is the cheapest car in India and offers a sunroof. 10K is the difference between the Tata Altroz XM+ (S) MT and the Hyundai Exter SX MT in ex-showroom price.
  • Tata Altroz XM+(S) MT petrol, 7.9L Ex.Showroom
  • Hyundai Exter SX MT petrol 7.99L Ex.Show Room
  • Hyundai i20 Asta MT petrol, 9.01 L Ex.Show room
  • Tata Nexon XM (S) MT petrol, 9.5L Ex-showroom

Excellent pricing from Hyundai.

Hyundai saw a great selling segment, launched a car ASAP. Tata knows about the success of the Creta segment for over half a decade and still doesn't have a car yet.

Hyundai sales will go up, and punch sales drop will let down Tata. The difference is going to be 5k at least.

Barring safety, I think this is an excellent car.

Re: Hyundai Exter Compact SUV bookings open

The competition between Tata and Hyundai for the 2nd spot in the Indian market is going to get more spicy With this launch Hyundai will be trying to hold on-to its 2nd position. Meanwhile Tata is gearing up to launch Creta rival next year and would try to snatch some numbers there from Hyundai.

I think Kia will soon launch their version of exter with iMT gearbox. Better option compared to AMT.

Excellent value, the type Eon stood for, in the past. Love the green, the sunroof etc. Not liking the sharp-cut rear portion, wonder why it looks like its cut out suddenly. Were they exceeding 3 meter!
2. The H in the headlight could be avoided, looks nice as rear lights though.

Here’s how the Exter stacks up against the Ignis, Punch and C3 on the price graph.

Exter Prices in Tamil Nadu are attached

Dual Tone roof Top variant sticks out a bit because of exceeding the 10 lakh ex-showroom price.

Re: Hyundai Exter Compact SUV bookings open

What is extra in the (o) variants of EX or S? I don't find it in the brochure at first glance.

EX variant @ 6 lakhs seem to be a pretty good deal for a no frills city car especially when used with a driver. My nephew needs a car & we will check it out. Only pain - longer waiting periods I presume, which can in fact be a blessing as all issues will be cleared out by the time you get your delivery after 6 months 😛

Re: Hyundai Exter Compact SUV bookings open

Exter's front fascia looks fresh and well designed but rear portion reminds me of Skoda Yeti i.e. flat and chopped off type.

SX(O) seems to have very good stock features like Diamond cut alloys, rear wiper and washer, keyless entry. I wish they would have removed the stupid sunroof from SX variant and gave above features. But within the available variants, I think SX(O) will retain its value the most, as it has everything and doesn't need anything upgraded or installed from outside.

This video shows SX version (of CNG, just ignore the boot space and manual gear)

This shows SX(O)

The difference of Rs.70-75000 between SX and SX(O) seems well justified. I can't say this for Connect edition, as 70k premium for giving our data to Hyundai seems too much. I would anyday trust google maps than any inbuilt maps.

I liked that they haven't unnecessarily pushed underpowered LED headlamps on top versions that most people feel insufficient. One can upgrade the halogen projector headlights as per his liking.

The stock dual camera seems to be front and inside view, rather than front and rear view. Again, not sure how many people want to record the inside of the car while travelling.
